I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara, The Stranger Beside Me (about Ted Bundy) by Ann Rule, and Monster by Steve Jackson.
I second the first two Debbie recommended, but haven’t read Monster. (Adding it to my TBR list right now!) I also wanted to add Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi to this list! His telling of the Manson story and trial got me hooked on true crime!
The Man in the Rockefeller Suit: The Astonishing Rise and Spectacular Fall of a Serial Impostor by Mark Seal. I’ve also read several of the books about the Amanda Knox case… the first and best one I read was Murder in Italy: Amanda Knox, Meredith Kercher and the Murder Trial that Shocked the World by Candace Dempsey. I’m currently in the middle of I’ll be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara.
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann, The Girls of Murder City by Douglas Perry, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara, Mindhunter by John Douglas
The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule. It’s about Ted Bundy. She worked with him at a suicide prevention hotline. He would even walk her to car after work because there was a killer on the loose (him).
Everything by Ann Rule. Start with “The Stranger Beside Me”. A terrific true crime writer, and a very kind woman- I had the good fortune to meet her, and my Dad had a couple of meals with her. May she Rest In Peace.

Has anyone read Bugliosi’s other book, “And The Sea Will Tell?” It was pretty good, as well, and covered a true crime story I wasn’t familiar with!
