I read a book that was older and it was all about New York and time travel back to NYC in the 1800s. It was called Time and Again By Jack Finney I really liked it!
The Great Gatsby, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, The Alienist, Catcher in the Rye (my favorite parts are descriptions about NYC), Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close… I feel I’ll come up with more through the day.
So this has made me realize that I’ve only read a few. The ones that come to mind are Catcher and Something Borrowed. I’m going to have to add to my tbr list
Isaac Bashevis Singer: Shadows on The Hudson (Now you can find it translated from the original Yidish writings)(I recomend this book; but from the trend in this blog I assume nobody is to read it,or has read it)
I like the historical mystery series set in NYC at the end of the 19th century written by Victoria Thompson. Series is titled ‘Gaslight Mystery’. First book is “Murder on Astor Place.”
I need to read this!!! I remember seeing the film when I was really little that I can’t even remember it, but I remember liking it so much that it stuck with me. And I see you guys recommend it so much that when I read this status I jumped in the comments like “someone is going to have said a tree grows in Brooklyn… “ and here it is haha. Yeah I need to read this badly lol.

Fountainhead for sure. I also just read Chelsea Girls memoir by Eileen Myles and Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff. All the others I can think of have been mentioned.
