Beth Davis a more recent blockbuster would be Into Thin Air by John Krakauer. Otherwise, Touching The Void by Joe Simpson (extraordinary true story about survival in the Andes), Endurance by Alfred Lansing arguably the best account of Ernest Shackleton’s incredible tale of survival against all odds. The last book I finished is 438 Days by Jonathan Franklin about a Mexican fisherman lost at sea for over a year – loved it. I also recently finished Where You’ll Find Me by Ty Gagne; a true story from 2015 set in the White Mountains of New Hampshire – heartbreaking. Finally, Skeletons on the Zahara by Dean King is fantastic story of ship wreck and survival on the shores of West Africa and then in the desert.
I’m ON vacation, and I’m reading The Godfather. I’ve seen the movies but had not read the book, so thought I’d give it a go. Seems like a good choice! (I have read his very first book, The Fortunate Pilgrim, which I thoroughly enjoyed).
Personally, I go for armchair adventure: survival at sea, mountain survival, etc. Or, anything by Carl Hiaasen.
Any specific recommendations for survival at sea or mountain survival reads?
Into Thin Air by John Krakauer
