Very good. Almost predictable — but not.

Ehhhhh, the ending left a lot to be desired. It had such promise though.

Loved the concept. The writing was on point. I could have done without the graphic scenes personally. I agree that she had trouble ending the story.

I listened to the book because there was a delay in getting the hard copy. When I listen to a book, I read the book afterwards but I couldn’t do it with this one. Not sure if it was because I’m around the age of the oldest child, or I was under stress (car break in), or that I had a hard time with parts of the last section of the book involving Varya’s job.
My Book Club meets to discuss this book tonight. We were intrigued by the premise.

I agree that the ending was wobbly, but liked that you could imagine the projection of the characters future. And yes, hard to read in parts. To me, that’s what makes a book really good. I want to feel challenged. Not by every book; I just felt this had such a different projectory than most family sagas. For me it was unusual and interesting, entertaining and challenging.
