What worked for me was re-reading a favourite! That or a short poetry book, because I got the sense of satisfaction from finishing a book but it took less effort (think Rupi Kaur).
Mix things up! I suggest reading a graphic novel or a indulgent middle grade novel. Go easy on your self but also try something knew. I was in a reading slump for about two years and thats what fulled me out of it.
You just gotta find THAT book. The one that interests you so much you can’t wait to begin. Mine was the Dorothy Must Die series and I’ve been reading others since finishing it all.
Quirk. Find an odd thing. A thing that is so shiny but strange that you can’t help but reach out for it. Think…. Neverwhere. Or A Confederacy of Dunces. Just slightly left of center. By the time you’re done, you’ll be back to where you want to be.
I love Lucy Knisley’s graphic novels and Derf Backderf’s My Friend Dahmer is fascinating if you don’t mind reading about Jeffrey Dahmer’s high school experience. Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams was just released this last week or so and I read the whole thing this weekend and couldn’t put it down.
I’d definitley suggest audio books! I was in SUCH a slump (like 5 years ?) and Audible helped me to fall in love with reading books again! I started listening to a book whenever I was driving, and now I’m back to taking a book with me wherever I go ?
So I always feel like I’m letting down my bibliophile self when I’m in a reading slump, which makes it worse. I’ve found a lot of success with reading more short stories and magazine article, so at least I’m reading something manageable, and I’ve found it takes the pressure off since I feel like I’m satisfying my love of reading. Then I wait until something longer REALLY catches my attention and I dive in. Another one is to start an audio book (audible gives you your first one free!) on a medium length drive (like 4-6hours) and then you’ll get hooked and want to buy the next book in the series!
At the beginning of this year I arranged all my TBR in alphabetical order by title. And just started reading. I only made it through like three books in order but it jump started my reading again!
I was in a terrible slump since a couple of months. Reading the Harry Potter Series followed by the Percy Jackson Series helped me. Of course, I read the six of crows duology immediately after that, so that helped as well ?

That was I thinking the same thing as your first suggestion. I love rereading favourites. And it’s helped me out of reading slumps.
Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager pulled me out of a horrible slump.

Re-read favorites. Or something funny. That’s what I’ve been doing and it’s helping a lot.
No advice, but I’m with you!
Sometimes I like to watch an movie adaptation of a book and if it’s good, it inspires me to read the book!
I just cured my own reading slump by finding a book that is a collection of short stories!
Something smutty!
Audio books!
I listened to Amy Poehler’s audiobook and that broke me out of my slump. I kept listening to more and it got me reading more.
Audiobooks! And listen on 1.5-1.75x speed. That keeps my attention better.
The Blinds and Run Away-Harlan Covens new book…..but kinda back in a funk again ??

I read fan fiction to break a reading slump. A few days (or weeks) of that and I’m ready for published work again.
Watch and movie about a book then read the book…and see how much better it is
I’m in the same situation here ?
I’d say read something really short or re read an old book you love. I find once I start finishing books it gives me momentum to read again
Manga/graphic novels. Or just take a break and put no pressure on yourself.
@Katy this really does work
Read something SUPER Easy and addictive that you can’t put down.
i read my favourite books again. Then i know i am in for a good read 🙂

@Sofia Oo I have yet to start Six of Crows
Ooh you must, the names initially threw me off a bit, but the story line was amazing 🙂
Re-read a comfort book ?
@Tracy yes, this helps me!
Try short stories. They’re less of a commitment, most of them you can finish in one sitting. Hopefully they’ll reignite your desire to read ?
Short stories? I genuinely love a quick Jeffrey Archer short story. Try Tell Tale by J R? The first story is precisely 100 words ☺
Ask friends or relatives for advice
Try a different genre
Audiobooks have been helping me
Audiobooks are awesome.
Read a dark romance! They’re like thrillers but are so hot you cant stop reading!
Short story collections, you can read a whole story in one sitting without much trouble
A good audiobook
Something fluffy. Easy reading, addictive story.
Re-read your fave book, read a short book or a collection of short stories and maybe just take your time until you’re ready to back on reading again.
Go back and read a book you absolutely loved. Mine is The Mortal Instrument series. Always gets me out of a slump
