Flavia de luce series by Alan Bradley, Richard Jury series by Martha Grimes, murdoch mysteries by Maureen Jennings, John Cardinal series by Giles Blunt, Charles Lennox series by Charles Finch
@Natasha Have you read her Felse series too? The only one I’ve managed to get my hands on is Death to the Landlords, but it was pretty good. Like I said… Mystery isn’t really “my” genre, but I gave it a shot cause I liked the Cadfael series so well.
If memory serves… Ellis Peters is a pen name, and she has other works under another name as well… I can and will read outside my preferred genre if the author is good, and I like her style… But Cadfael is the only series I’ve read completely.
Carol Perry, Maggie Pill, Anna Lee Huber, Laura Lippman (really nice lady, too), and of course Agatha Christie. All of these are really enjoyable authors. Though right now I’m reading an unconventional mystery by Jasper Fforde about Detective Jack Spratt and the murder of Humpty Dumpty, it’s called The Big Over Easy. It’s not a children’s book, but a rather whimsical police procedural with a hefty dose of humor.
Try J D Robb’s In Death series starting with Naked in Death
It is!
