Enid Blyton’s “The Five Find Outers” – much better mysteries than the Famous Five books!

The Three Investigators were always good value too.

The old “Choose Your Own Adventure” series can be great for younger readers too (Who Killed Harlowe Thrombey” is ace).

Encyclopedia Brown used to be fun – much shorter stories, though.
