You had me at “the first 500 pages”. The only book that I slogged most of the way through (I ended up quitting like 900 pages in), regardless of how tedious it was Atlas Shrugged. Never again. My stance is that life’s too short to “work” for your recreation.
I completely get it! The only reason I stuck it out was because I love all his other books so much. Any other author and I’d have called it quits around page 100
Go figure! I LOVED Mistborn! I really like Stormlight, too, but I really struggled through the first half of book one. If I hadn’t loved Mistborn so much, I would have given up on it!
Mistborn. The Way of Kings is not for Sanderson’s beginners. In my opinion (an unpopular one), not his best book. Like @Alex, I think that book had 900 pages of boring.
I’m so glad I read all of the advice. Thank you! I’ve tried to start Way of Kings twice now and I just picked it up yesterday to try again. I’ve heard Sanderson is great but I was so discouraged. I’ll get Mistborn and go from there first ?
Way of Kings
@Michael no!
@Ľubo I couldn’t even get through the first book of mist born
I started with Mistborn and it’s sequel series followed by Skyward and now I’ve moved on to Way of Kings. I’ve loved everything.:)
Mistborn. The first 500 pages of Stormlight is hard to get through and kind of tedious, even if you already know how great his books can be

@Allison wow it’s funny you said that because my first attempt at Sanderson was Mistborn and I quit before i finished it.

@Kerlys agreed but I now loved way of kings.
I read the Mistborn trilogy, and really enjoyed the first two books. Didn’t care for the third one. I did really enjoy the Legion books.
Mistborn or Elantris. The Stormlight Archive is Sanderson at his finest, but it takes dedication to get into.
I just started reading Sanderson and I chose to start with the first Mistborn trilogy. Currently reading the first book and I am enjoying it so far.
