@Olivia Right that makes sense. I was probably older than 1st grade reading that. I think it’s even enjoyable for adults and teens honestly. Maybe by 3rd or 4th grade it’s more appropriate
The Captain Awesome series is great; Franny K. Stein; and anything by Doreen Cronin – she wrote Click Clack Moo but has a great series of early chapter books called The Chicken Squad about four chickens who are detectives – they are hilarious. My kids loved all of these and they are easy enough for them to begin to read on their own. ?
Geronimo stilton were popular around that age when I was working at the library for parents to read with them at least….what are they into?
He seems to be into music.

I think that depends on whether you are reading to him or he’s reading himself
Probably both.

I third that
I wonder if Series of unfortunate events is too hard for a first grader. .. but it’s a good 13 book series for kids
I would say yes due to content, but a good series for when he gets older for a kid to expand their vocabulary.

@Amber yeah that would be a good starting age. That was the age my classmates started reading them but it was also the grade they first came out.
@Olivia ahh yes that makes sense. I don’t have kids of my own, so I’m a bit fuzzy on the details of what age group should read what lol
@Amber yeah that’s too advanced for a 1st grader. I read those in 3rd and 4th grade I believe.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
Jungle Book. Wind in the Willows.
Bill and Pete by Tomie de Paola
Curious George…but it is about 40 children book pages long, and don’t try to skip a page-they’ll know.
Might I suggest http://www.readkiddoread.com/ for an excellent resource? You can search by reading level and genre and everything.
