What sort of books? The Sookie Stackhouse (Tru Blood) series is fun if you are in to vampires and werewolves and supernatural kookiness. If you’re looking for more drama/mystery the Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo is incredible… or NYPD Red by James Patterson is also good… or if you are looking for a more feel good, greater meaning in life sort of series check out The Walk series by Richard Paul Evans. Oh & since it is the season – also wonderful at Christmas, heart warming quick reads – Donna VanLiere the Christmas Hope series.
The Gillian Flynn books are extremely addictive and leave you thinking about them for hours after you put them down. I wish she would hurry and write some more!
She’s my queen!!!!!! I’m also waiting for her to come out with another novel! Dark places is one of the most depressing books I’ve read in a while but it is just so good! And gone girl is one of my all time favs!!
I was a huge fan of the Asylum series by Madeleine Roux . It’s a trilogy. But also has 2 books that can be included or read separately. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not into mystery/suspense/thriller. My friend tried reading it and couldn’t get past the first 5 chapters.
If you like mysteries Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch or Lincoln Lawyer series, or James Lee Burke’s Dave Robicheaux. If you like historical fiction, Amy Stewart’s Girl Waits With Gun series…
The Lady Trent series by Marie Brennan. Kind of like steampunk Victorian fantasy novels! https://www.swantower.com/series/the-memoirs-of-lady-trent/ There are other novel series by this author, but I don’t know anything about them as I haven’t read them.
J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series with The Hobbit and the Silmarillion included, as @James stated Stephen King’s the Dark Tower series, or one of my other personal favorites, Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles
@Rachel I too love the show…the books are also great! Martin didn’t finish the series in book form so it is interesting to see how the show writers develop the theme. A Dance with Dragons is the last of five ( and they do need to be read in order) but I have read there are two more “forthcoming “. But that was quite awhile ago!
Depends on your taste. You can’t go wrong with Tolkien. The Hobbit and TLOR are great. If you like historical fiction, check out George MacDonald Fraser’s Flashman books.
Raven boys. I also almost done with Percy Jackson. Those are just fun easy reads.
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. It’s a good series.
That’s on my TBR list for 2018. Glad to hear it’s a good one ?
Tales of the city.

I’ve just read Sharp Objects. She does so well to keep you questioning the story and the personalities but also the literature and symbolism!
I’m reading Gone Girl now.

The Kushiel saga by Jaqueline Carey. I love this series. There are 3 trilogies of three books each. Start with Kushiel’s Dart.

@Jaye I will 100% read them!!
They are amazing, but if you start reading them be prepared to be left hanging. It is highly unlikely that Martin will ever finish the series.
@Kathleen I don’t know if I can handle that hahahah
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
The Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer.
Great series loved it
Depends on your taste. You can’t go wrong with Tolkien. The Hobbit and TLOR are great. If you like historical fiction, check out George MacDonald Fraser’s Flashman books.
Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels. Starts with One for the Money. They are hilarious and silly. These are my go to when stressed.
Fun to listen to too!
MaddAddam Trilogy by Margret Atwood.
Throne of Glass
The Cork O’Connor mysteries by William Kent Krueger. Also the Hawkenlye mysteries or the Alf Fen series…both by Alys Clare.

Outlander, but some of the books are much better than the others.
Fiona Griffiths mysteries
The Number 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.
Red Rising.
what genre?
Mystery- Louise Penny has a great series about a fictional detective, Inspector Gamache.
I love the Alan Bradley series about precocious Flavia Deluce–starts with The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.
I’m reading the Asylum series now. (YA)
I guess it depends what kind of book you like. I loved “The Mitford Series” by Jan Karon
