There’s a converted phone box in my neighbourhood, but it doesn’t work very well. People use it to dump unwanted books in there, but they’re often so old and so damaged that nobody wants to borrow them. So the box just gets filled with junk, and the Jehova’s Witnesses fill up any gaps with their magazines.
If I ever own my own house I will put one up as well. Unfortunately I live in an apartment block and am not allowed to put things on the lawn out front.
I’ve already asked permission to install a cat door in the panel of my (ground floor) balcony, and to put my business name on the letterbox. Don’t want to push it. Also, they removed my neighbour’s currant and gooseberry bushes he’s been growing outside his window for years without warning.
We love them. I can go in almost any direction and find one. On a side note, I volunteer with three libraries and this is where I place books about twice a month when the Friends of the Library can’t use them in their book sales due to condition.
So they aren’t recycled, I rotate the donations between boxes each time and find new ones to drop off at too. ?
I think literacy is so important These little libraries are such great ideas and I’ve even seen a little free pantry’s for homeless people or low income people to get free food like canned goods and such even clothing
@Nikky I don’t have one started either but I’m thinking of it and I’m not a Carpender but where there’s a will there’s a way for both of us to figure it out
They’re adorable! There’s one in the car line at our kids’ schools, but you can’t get to them from the car, and the kids can’t get to them because of the cars. So location is key! I worry about moisture damage, but think they’re a great idea!
I think it’s a great idea!So I just heard about them I want to put one up just got to figure out how I don’t know Anything about construction.
Same here

Lots of them in Wisconsin (United States). I even have one.
The headquarters for the non-profit is in Hudson. ♡
A local Starbucks has a take a book leave a book shelf, took a book or two left a couple as well, that might be a thought!
I saw a hair salon that did this…great idea!

I have one in front of my house. My hubby built it for me. ?

Wow! That would be the perfect place. Maybe you should ask permission??

Free libraries and lending libraries are awesome.
