Amazon should also store a list of items you’ve purchased so that you *hopefully* won’t lose your ebooks. Go to Manage Your Content and Devices to access the list and I believe you’re able to transfer purchases to a new device if needed.
My mom is having this problem. The charging ports on these things are notoriously awful. She called Amazon today and they’re replacing it- it’s in warranty though but I’ve heard of Amazon replacing them sometimes even when they’re out of warranty.
Mine will only charge if the cord is inserted in a certain angle! ? So I balance and stabilize it between books, and if the angle is EXACTLY right, the orange charging light will show… Och well! ?
That can also be fluff from bags and things, I try getting a sewing needle and very carefully hooking out hidden fluff from in there – you’ve got nothing else to lose when things get to that point – I’ve saved repair work on an iPhone and a kindle by doing that, just make sure not to scrape the charging contacts too hard…
are you using the original charger? I have three or four chargers that are all the same thing but only the original seems to charge it and only the original will allow me to connect it to the computer to back it up. As Anja said I also find sometimes with the micro chargers that they are super fussy with connection and you have to wiggle and jiggle a bit to get the connection right Good luck x
If the kindle is several years old, it’s probably gone to meet its maker. Lol ? I had a kindle keyboard that I’d had for seven years that wouldn’t turn on or charge this past Christmas, and so I ordered a Paperwhite.
Is it fully updated? Mine stopped charging and connecting to the internet, I bought a new one and was told my the lady in the shop if I plug it in to my computer and update it that way it might work, I now keep that kindle in my handbag for when I go on holiday and keep my other one at home
How old is the Kindle? Contact Amazon and see if maybe they can help you out?
Try a new charger and cord first. If that doesn’t help, then unfortunately you might be right
I’ve gone thru several charging cords
This happened to me too. I called but since it was past warranty they couldn’t do anything. They did give me a $15 credit toward a new one, though

I’m sure you’ve tried a different cord.
Yes
This happens to me quite often. Just wait a couple of days and then it will just start working again. My has been doing it for years .
It may be your charger and not the device itself. That happened to me.
Do you have a Batteries Plus store where you live? They might be able to help
Ohh thanks!!!
The ebooks transfer to the new device. Mine did to 2 new ones.

My Kindle stopped working, but after a few months I tried it one last time (charged it for 24 hours) and it works fine now.
This has happened to every kindle I’ve owned ??
Call the service peoples and they will have you send it in and send you a new one

@James Wow, thanks, I‘ll try that!
