I think it’s decent. Now http://audiobooks.com/ has a lot more than scribd and I’ve used it a great deal as well. My husband has stuck with audible from the beginning and he really loves it. I think I like the fact that I can also find non audio books on Scribd that I can’t get on Kindle Unlimited.
No problem. If I were you I would try them out first and see which one I like better. I know Scribd and http://audiobooks.com/ have a free either 14 or 30 day trial period.
Worth it. I use it all the time. I don’t have enough time to read. I can do this while I do other stuff. And sometimes you get a different experience with different books when you read vs listen. You get other discounts and specials/sales on other audiobooks. You can return within a year if you don’t love it.
@ម៉េង ? I’ve had it probably 6+ years and I’m in the USA and I can totally still return prior to a year. Says towards the bottom that you can call if you get an error online… I call every time to return and never have a problem. Although with kindle amazon you must return within a week I believe.
For me it is. My library has Overdrive however they don’t have everything I want to listen to. Also I don’t listen to them fast enough. This way I can listen without having to worry it will be returned and someone else snaps it up.
Exactly, We have Overdrive and Hoopla connected to the CPL and while the selection is good, it’s not always what I want. That’s why I hang on to my Audible membership.
LOVE IT!!! If I didnt have audible I wouldnt get a whole lot of reading done between working full time and going to school full time. Lots of sales and good member prices as well
I really enjoyed audible when I had it..then I discovered my library had Overdrive and I could get the same books for free and never looked back. Sometimes if my library doesn’t have an audiobook I want I’ll buy the audiobook through amazon but without being an audible member it’s kind of expensive.
I recently discovered that should you not be satisfied with an audiobook you can send it back and get another one. I’m difficult with audiobooks, only the voice of the reader can annoy me so that I will buy the written version and just ask for another audiobook.
The other thing to remember is that once you’ve been a member for 3 months, you can purchase extra credits for less than $12 a pop. And a great many of their titles are cheaper than the $14+ cost of a credit and you can purchase them outright without wasting a credit on them. They have daily sale books usually for <$5, and you can pick up classics for under a buck sometimes. Also? The Great Courses, which are, IMO, wildly over-priced on the GC website, are one credit per course!
@Tracy , help me there. I live in France and I am French. I din’t know about the extra credit, good to know. We do not have daily sales like you do, it is about once a month. Neither do we have classics for one buck. That I would love though you can find them free on the web. I have no idea what GC is???What is it?
I don’t know if they’ll offer the extra credits outside of the US, but if they do you’ll find a note next to your credit count on the main page saying that you can buy extra. It comes up, as I said, after you’ve been a member for 3 months, and when you’re down to one or no credits in your account.
The really cheap books are hard to find, but if you poke around the categories long enough you should find some good deals. Or I hope you will anyway. Honestly the copyright peculiarities between countries are maddening.
I do the platinum subscription, but I also borrow audiobooks from the library. Only you can know what will work best for you. Audible offers a lot of choice, obviously, but if your library system is solid…
I like it for books like self help and The Great Courses. I spend weeks at a time listening to these books during my commute. I’ve listened to the equivalent of entire college level courses in one $15 audiobook.
I love it! Have been a member for years. Some books I like to read digital, some paperback/hardcover and some audio. I often wait for a 2for1 sale and always have plenty cued up!
I have audible. I actually pay more for more credits per month. I also borrow from the Library on Overdrive…and between the two, it keeps me busy. If you like audiobooks, it is worth it. They also offer deals where you can get discounts on more credits. I really love it. And if you dont like a book… you can return it and get your credit back. I listen to books on my work commute and at home when I work out. I average 1-2 books per week.
It’s good if you want really specific books whenever you want them. I personally use free options instead because it’s not worth the money to me. Overdrive and Hoopla through my libraries are what I use!
negative!
Why?
I like it.
I guess I have to try to 30days trial then ☺️ thank you !
@ម៉េង Hope you enjoy it too.
Absolutely!
Wow, I have to try it myself then
I LOVE IT.
But, I do two credits a month, not one. It’s a much better deal. It’s $22.95 per month for two credits, which is about $11.48 per credit.
Great plan! But if we don’t like the book , can we get a refund?
Yes! If you return them within 30 days you get your credit back.
@ម៉េង I think so, if you do it in a certain amount of time.
@Vivi wow , thank you
And you get your first audiobook free, at least I did anyways.
@Maia I will check it up
Not to me. I can get audio books by other means … for free. ?
So can I, and do, but I use audible for the books I feel I ought to pay for. And because I’m not taking a chance on quality.
I think I use audible for the books that I feel I need to pay only
I personally like Scribd better, but my husband likes audible. I think it’s all dependant on what you like. Scribd is cheaper a month.
It really cheaper but how is the quality?
I think it’s decent. Now http://audiobooks.com/ has a lot more than scribd and I’ve used it a great deal as well. My husband has stuck with audible from the beginning and he really loves it. I think I like the fact that I can also find non audio books on Scribd that I can’t get on Kindle Unlimited.
@Amanda oh I see! Thank you for your recommendation
No problem. If I were you I would try them out first and see which one I like better. I know Scribd and http://audiobooks.com/ have a free either 14 or 30 day trial period.

But some people said we can only return after 30 days

No. I get them free from my library. I’d try the trial tho.. doesn’t mean you won’t like it 🙂
I’m too busy to go to library or just lazy ?
I love it
That’s great ?
Yes
For me it is. My library has Overdrive however they don’t have everything I want to listen to. Also I don’t listen to them fast enough. This way I can listen without having to worry it will be returned and someone else snaps it up.

I love it! Listening to it right now!
Yes
I have it. Love it
Yes I like it. I do the two bc one a month wasn’t enough.
Yes. I’ve been a member for almost a year. I find it well worth it.
LOVE IT!!! If I didnt have audible I wouldnt get a whole lot of reading done between working full time and going to school full time. Lots of sales and good member prices as well
Definitely worth it! You might think $15 is a lot but audiobooks are usually like $30 dollars or more
I really enjoyed audible when I had it..then I discovered my library had Overdrive and I could get the same books for free and never looked back. I’ve returned a great many audiobooks to Audible, and never once did they quibble.

@Nolwenn GC = Great Courses.

The daily sale I mentioned is actually called the daily deal. The info comes in email, or I find it by scrolling down on the main page. Today’s deal is Julius Caesar for under $1 (Don’t know if you can access this but here’s the link: https://www.audible.com/pd/Classics/Julius-Caesar-Audiobook/B007QI3KEM?pf_rd_p=d1b9e3ed-79ce-46d6-a14a-f07910c32f57&pf_rd_r=T9AS4JAX9YN48FD7FQDJ&)

So it is not available in France, there is nothing next to me zero credit note.
@Nolwenn I’m sorry to hear that.

When I used it all the time it really was.

I’m not all that excited by audible, but I don’t commute long distances in traffic.
Worth every Penny
it’s worth it !!! it’s so nice that you can read when you can’t hold a book !!
I just signed up
