I liked it. It brings in characters from Mr Mercedes, which I hadn’t read, but it didn’t affect the story for me. It doesn’t read like classic King though.
Loved it so much went back amd read the Bill Hodges trilogy. Bit of a spoiler because they talk a lot about what happened in the books in The Outsider but still a good read.
Yes! But please read Mr. Mercedes first as there are major spoilers for that series (you could think of it like a fourth mr Mercedes that also stands on its own feet). I would not have wanted to miss out on the arc of the character I most love that shows up in the Outsider.
That being said I think the Outsider is classic Stephen King horror crack and I loved every minute of it.
@Katie I loved Holly so I’m really interested in getting to those books! I think enough time has passed since I read The Outsider that I’ll still get into her arc
I love Stephen King but I have become prejudiced against his most recent work. (Almost everything I’ve read that he wrote after 2000 was garbage. Except maybe Doctor Sleep.) That being said, I absolutely adored the Outsider and I did not expect to. It was scary and not at all confusing like a lot of his recent books. I found the King of the 70s and 80s again.
I did and I enjoyed it.
I liked it! It was genuinely scary. It was a little more supernatural than I was expecting though.
My thoughts exactly.
I’m listening to the audiobook now. Almost halfway I think.
I liked it, I usually prefer “classic” Stephen King but I got through this in a day and a half. Loved it.
It was enjoyable and a easy read, I recommend it!
i liked it
I listened to the audiobook. It was so good!!!

I really liked it but the beginning/first half was my favorite part.
I liked it
I really enjoyed it! The ending wasn’t my favourite but it didn’t ruin the reading experience for me. The build-up and delivery were really well done!

@Angela Holly is an EXCELLENT character and by far my favorite person to read about in the series! Her arc is absolutely excellent.
@Katie I’m excited to hear that! I loved her so much in The Outsider
I loved it and haven’t read Mr Mercedes yet. It didn’t ruin the enjoyment to not have that context though I’m interested in that trilogy now!
I liked it!

Oh, and I haven’t read Mr Mercedes (but I’m going to).
