Has anyone read the invisible man?
I read it many years ago. It was hard going but I think I learned from it and am glad I did read it. I have thought about rereading it after all these years to see how far I’ve come. The same with Native Son.
If you’re referring to Ralph Ellison’s book, I have. It’s on many lists of best novels of the 20th century, but none of my students ever liked it at all. I finally decided the mix of realism and fantasy was so unsettling, probably particularly because racial topics are difficult enough to talk about without having to broker exaggeration and/or unreliability from the narrator.
Some readers are really persnickety to note that the title doesn’t include a “The.”
Or do you mean HG Wells?
I’ve only read Ralph Ellison and loved it.
No, I couldn’t find it. Lol
It’s Ralph Ellison and so far I like it a lot.
Got half way through and was either distracted or not that interested. Need to go back.
I’m listening to an audio version and the reader is very good.
I did but I couldn’t see it. Ha! The Ralf Ellison one is great, but don’t expect a thriller……
Just started the book and is difficult to get into after reading his Time Machine.
Read it decades ago, and loved it.
Half a century ago …
I did… and it took me longer than usual to finish it.. he kept saying “i am invisible” we know!! The title already say so (H.G. Wells)
I read that a long time ago. I remember liking it a lot. I believe it’s a classic.
is this the man that lives in underground tunnels of the city?
