I actually saw the movie first, which is backwards from how I usually do it. But I thought the movie was great. Especially after reading the book and saw how the film makers did a very good job of following the storyline of the book.
Excellent. Everything by this author is. Each novel is full of fantastic insights and quotes as well as a good story. The author is only in his thirties but seems so full of wisdom!
@Jo I’m sure it is. With extremely rare exceptions, the book is always better. However , as much as I try, I simply cannot read everything so sometimes do have to rely on the movies.
Yes. Loved it. Such a gentle, touching, funny and on occasions, laugh out loud read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Happy reading.
YES! Excellent. Check out the movie afterwards, as well as “Britt-Marie was Here” and “Beartown”. Two more of his books.
My grandmother asked me to tell you she was sorry – EXCELLENT!
I was not impressed with a man called ove movie…

Yes?
It is very good as are his other novels…this was made into an excellent movie!
Not impressed with the movie
Yes, slow start but enjoyed it. Now reading My Grandmother Said To Tell You She Is Sorry for book group, not liking it. P
This one got better by the end. What bothered me about it was that some of the main character’s observations seemed way beyond her years.
i wasn’t prepared for the fantasy aspect. Although I love the Harry Potter series I am not appreciating this story.
Loved “my grandmother” more than a man called ove…
It is on my list for this summer!
I am now reading The Underground Railroad. Not sure about it!
That is a very tough read. It really made me think about the continuing impact of slavery.
I thought it was wonderful and also loved My Grandmother Said to Tell She is Sorry by the same author
One of the (very) few books I’ve finished in the past year. (Finally gave myself permission to quit a book.)
Yes. Now reading Beartown, which is also very well written.
Loved it!
Yes, and I loved it, and have lived all his other books. I just finished Beartown- it was awesome.
Loved A Man Called Ove. I listened to it, so Ove came to life. I could literally hear the irritation in his voice.
Absolutely loved it!
Just got from my sister! Looking forward to starting it.
Nice movie, too..in Swedish
The movie – meh… loved the book!
Loved it! I couldn’t put it down at the beach last summer.

Excellent. Everything by this author is. Each novel is full of fantastic insights and quotes as well as a good story. The author is only in his thirties but seems so full of wisdom!

Couldn’t put it down
I read it a couple of months ago! I loved it! A bit of time to REALLY get into it, but once I was there, I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated it.
Haha, likewise!
Our book club read it a few months ago. Ove reminded me of my father in law.
Good book!
I didn’t read the book but I watched the movie which is available free through Amazon Prime. Very enjoyable and I would recommend.
Books better than the movie
@Jo I’m sure it is. With extremely rare exceptions, the book is always better. However , as much as I try, I simply cannot read everything so sometimes do have to rely on the movies.
Excellent book.
Yes, I loved it as well. I am now reading Beartown, his latest and it is also very good.
Loved it. I think I’m ready to read it again. I want to try some of his other books.
Yes! Loved it , loved him!
Undecided to try it!! People seem to live or hate it!
It has a slow beginning but I ended up loving it.
Also adored it, start to finish.
I started it but it was soooo slow and I gave it some more time but had to put it to the side. I may revisit it as I have heard such great reviews : )
Yes I loved it! Made me cry. I read it for my book club shortly after my mom died.
5 stars!
It’s on my list.
On my book club’s schedule this next year.
Yes–slow start, then became more engrossing. Slightly odd, beginning to end. ?
Like Donna Walter above, I read it right after my 95 yo father died three months ago – it was the perfect book for that particular time, surprisingly.
Slow start for me also but I was in tears by the end. It is one of my favorites so far in the last couple of years.
My book club read it and we all loved it!
Just finished it. Loved it.
