Being an English Language and Literature major, I was also first introduced to it in the Middle English language it was written in! … but, once I read it in modern English, I loved it.
I love them! I took a course called Shakespeare and Chaucer in college. It was taught by a man named Bill Collins. It was his first class ever. He was amazing. He went on to become Billy Collins who was later Poet Laureate of the US. The stories are magnificent. Chaucer was a student of human nature who paints indelible characters.
I loved them…I named two birds Chanticleer and Pertelote from The Nuns Priests Tale once years ago…used to quote lines from several stories….some better than others but found them enchanting !
Ugh. Yes.
Yes in high school. I liked them…. But they’re definitely not everyone’s cup of tea.

I read it a half year ago. Great prose, great wit, but not all the stories are great. But the ones that are, are true gems…
Tried to but couldn’t get into them

In High School Literature. I loved it. I have been wanting to go back and reread it
I have a masters in English literature. I had to read it in the original Middle English. I was tempted to change my degree to water polo.
Hahaha! I know the feeling, but now, in hindsight, I loved it and all the tales. Although some were really hard work tbh ?

Yes, loved it! I read it in Middle English, so it took a while, but it was fun ?
Read it at University in Middle English (still have the book). Think of it as a puzzle with a (sometimes very baudy) payoff.
