Eh some books are great, others not so much, its one of the series I skip and pick. A better series is JD Robbs In Death series I freaking love Eve Dallas
I love the series,my favorite kinds of books do not end with the book being complete. Having the stories continue and see the characters change is a big deal to me
I have read a lot of it. Probably not the last 5-6. I ran out of steam with the dark side because I feel they have to be read in order and continuously to not get lost.
P.C . Is an excellent author . Her medical knowledge is endless which just draws you in. I haven’t read any of her books in years and at time in my life I was uncomfortable with the main character being a lesbian. I may feel differently now that I am older however.
I’ve only read Portrait of a Killer (about Jack the Ripper case). Awesome read. I tried other books, but found they didn’t satisfy. I’ll try again since it’s been a few years.
I did but like @Debera I loved Portrait of a Killer. Now that a few years have passed I have reviewed that work and think while she was close to correct there were a few missing pieces. I wondered if she had decided to leave the connections out on purpose, but perhaps she wouldn’t agree with my view. In any case it was a darn good read and she ruffled a lot of feathers in the UK.
I’ve read a few in no particular order and they’re engaging, well-written and with well-flowing dialogue. There’s a good balance between the criminal cases and the personal lives of the characters.
In my opinion, the first ones are the best ones. The ones she has written in the past several years are not as good or I don’t like the characters anymore.
I used to, her first several books are excellent but then they started getting quite dark, had a paranoia about them. Then, one day I saw a interview of Cornwall on tv and she talked about having a drug habit and how it had really affected her. I have not read her recent work.
I’ve read some. I loved what I read and hope to get to most of the series some day. I will say you have to not mind some rather gruesome forensic details. It really sets her books apart, but turns off some readers. I find myself buffering between books. I read one or two lighter books before I tackle another.
I’ve read almost every one of them. For the most part, they are really good but there’s a couple I struggled ‘getting in to’ but definitely worth the read.
Loved the early ones, too. Later, characters seemed to be developed inconsistently, and plots started to feel SUPER contrived. But the first few were amazing. Great fun!
@Karen murder mystery/ thriller I would say. She’s a dedicated, brilliant medical examiner who solves cases and gets into scrapes with suspects. If you liked Rizzoli and Isles, you will like Scarpetta.
One of my favorite series – always pre order when I know of a new one coming. Although I believe the first books of the series is better than the last few do to over describing scenery which I personally don’t enjoy in a book. Seems like lazy filler to me if there is no relation to moving the plot along.
Long time ago. It’s ok. There are many like it.
Yes! I read all of them, they are very good
I enjoyed her first few in the series, but her later ones not so much.
I enjoyed the first books in the series…
Used to be a writer I followed closely. After a while, the story got a bit repetitive though
Eh some books are great, others not so much, its one of the series I skip and pick. A better series is JD Robbs In Death series I freaking love Eve Dallas
@Rebecca I love her as Nora Roberts. My local library is missing the first of that series so I’ve never read it
@Kayla try kindle or Nook version? Do you do e books?
I would if I had a kindle. Something to look into for sure
@Kayla I have the Nook app on my phone I literally carry a library every where lol
The earlier books were good. The later ones I didn’t like so much.
Yes, but earlier ones are better….
Not the new ones
I have. I agree, the earlier novels are great!
Loved her books I agree the earlier ones were the best.
Yes..I agree the early ones are the best. I really liked them and would recommend them.
At what number would you say they started to not be as good?
@Kayla I totally agree!
The first books were wonderful. Then they got a little far fetched.
I loved that series – yes, the last few are a bit different, but just as good
I read several of them and enjoyed the series.
I enjoyed the entire series.
Read the first few years ago. Somewhere around 4 or 5 something really disturbed me and I stopped buying her books.
@Pam Same with me. The first few were so good. Then the series turned dark. I quit buying them also.
I love the series,my favorite kinds of books do not end with the book being complete. Having the stories continue and see the characters change is a big deal to me
Yes and yes but after so many it lost my interest.
Tracy Suber Same.
Absolutely
Looks like several feel the same as I do…..read the first few then they got weirder and weirder.
I just acquired ‘Trace’. Can I start there, like, is it a good standalone novel?
I have read those since the late 90’s. Good. Yep. I didn’t know there were new ones…
Loved the series, but agree with other posts that later installments lost their luster. That’s happened with a few of my other beloved series.
Good series!
Excellent series
The earlier ones were better. I stopped reading her a long time ago
Loved it.
I love her books!
Excellent
Love them!
It’s excellent
Good series.
definitely an excellent writer
I’m about 6 books in and have enjoyed them.
It’s on the list to read, I have read book 3 when I was in high school
I am/was a big Cornwell fan!! Loved that her early books were set in Richmond. I love medical mysteries so these satisfied that desire.
Started years ago. Yes very good. I’m few books behind. Need to get on track.
One of my favorite series! I’ve read them all.
yes i have but the earlier ones she is a great researcher for accuracy and details and does not waste words i give her four out five
My favorites. Read them all
So love them all.
So good love them!!
the early ones are great, they get too macabre and unimaginable to me toward the most recent ones. But I love love her writing.
Excellent. I got a little burned out after reading a few.
One of my favorites
I have read a lot of it. Probably not the last 5-6. I ran out of steam with the dark side because I feel they have to be read in order and continuously to not get lost.
Absolutely love the series!!! I’m a Patricia Cornwell fan for sure.
Lobe the Scarlett’s series!
It’s great
I love them!!! cruel and unusual is one of my favorite books!!!
they are awesome!
Loved reading Scarpetta stories!
Good reads
Some of them
P.C . Is an excellent author . Her medical knowledge is endless which just draws you in.
I haven’t read any of her books in years and at time in my life I was uncomfortable with the main character being a lesbian. I may feel differently now that I am older however.
She is excellent. Not sure I realised this about the main character,,, oops!
I loved them all!!!
Yes read all of them. Soo good. She is from Richmond, Va so fun to read for me.
Yes!
I’m a huge fan!
Read them all
I have not but hubby has and loves them.
I loved her earlier books, but stopped reading them as they weren’t so well developed. Just got discouraged with the last for or five.
Love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ her series!
I read one but I found it way too graphic and gory for my taste.
I’ve only read Portrait of a Killer (about Jack the Ripper case). Awesome read. I tried other books, but found they didn’t satisfy. I’ll try again since it’s been a few years.
I read the first 5 or 6, but the quality declined so I stopped.
Read them in order of the date published. I think “Postmortem” was the first one. If you’re like most people you’ll enjoy the early ones.
I haven’t read them, but mom has read the whole series. She enjoys them!
Years ago I read several of her books they are well written but if you read one after another they start feeling like same story different characters
Very good!
Excellent!
First few pretty good. Later ones not so much.
@Diana yes I agree. Her “twist” on this case surprised my senses, and I ravaged each page!☺️
Prefer her earlier books.
The Scarpetta series is very good
Yes, I have. They are good, at least in my opinion.
yes. i have they are good
Yes..love them but start from the beginning
Love them! I’m getting ready to start the series over again.
I thought they became too narrow, and everything was centred on her personally
Really good on audio book
I have a weak stomach and the graphic descriptions of autopsies kept me awake at night.
I LOVE IT!
I’ve read a few in no particular order and they’re engaging, well-written and with well-flowing dialogue. There’s a good balance between the criminal cases and the personal lives of the characters.
Absolutely brijant
I have the whole series available for sale in SA.
I like them but they do get a little bit repetitive
Love them!
Very good!
In my opinion, the first ones are the best ones. The ones she has written in the past several years are not as good or I don’t like the characters anymore.
Oh yes great books
I love them
Yes they’re all good
Scarpetta series is one of my faves. You should give them a try, definitely. 🙂
Very good. I love the series.
Yes. Great books
Love it!
yes they are Great
She is great. Haven’t read her in a while
I used to, her first several books are excellent but then they started getting quite dark, had a paranoia about them. Then, one day I saw a interview of Cornwall on tv and she talked about having a drug habit and how it had really affected her. I have not read her recent work.
@Sharon exactly, I have read them for years but they got to be really really dark and depresing.
The early ones are great …
Yes and they are great!
Love them have the whole series
I did enjoy them…
First books in the series are better than the later ones.
@Nancy that seems to be the way with most series for me. Maybe the author gets bored with the characters but still cranks them out for the money.
Very good.
I’ve read some. I loved what I read and hope to get to most of the series some day. I will say you have to not mind some rather gruesome forensic details. It really sets her books apart, but turns off some readers. I find myself buffering between books. I read one or two lighter books before I tackle another.
Yes that are great! Body Farm was my FAVORITE. I remember it still all these years later.
I’ve read almost every one of them. For the most part, they are really good but there’s a couple I struggled ‘getting in to’ but definitely worth the read.
Fabulous!
great series. last several not as great but well worth the read. at least start. i like them in order.
So So on that author. Probably lake/beach reading.
Used to but nit for a few years now but quite good.
I have
Yes…good…?
I’ve read them all. The early ones were great…
Yes and they are great really great I love Scarpetta!!!!
I’ve read them several times!
Great Reads. Start with book 1 and go forward. See how she builds the characters.
First books were great then they became formulated. Definitely beach reads.
Agree early ones the best. Too violent for me these days.
The first few were good, especially Body Farm. Later Scarpetta books were too dark and violent and disturbing to be entertaining.
I have only read a few but the first few were really good
I’ve read every book in the series! I love them, great books!
Loved the early ones, too. Later, characters seemed to be developed inconsistently, and plots started to feel SUPER contrived. But the first few were amazing. Great fun!
I agree. I stopped reading after the first few and never went back.
Loved the first 8 or so…then it got tired.
I love them!
Oh, yes. I love her books.
I got off track, but I’ve read at least 6 and loved them all.
Amazing!! Just got into them. Body Farm is where I started, now I’m reading Postmortem. First I the series and I’m going to go in order.
Loved them!
Yes very good
Yes
excellent
What genre is it ? I love good series .
@Karen murder mystery/ thriller I would say. She’s a dedicated, brilliant medical examiner who solves cases and gets into scrapes with suspects. If you liked Rizzoli and Isles, you will like Scarpetta.
Loved them. Read the whole series. Got really sad when I finished because I was like HOW AM I GOING TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS TO SCARPETTA NOW???
Love her books!
Yes. Scarpetta is great. Read in order if you can.
One of my favorite series – always pre order when I know of a new one coming. Although I believe the first books of the series is better than the last few do to over describing scenery which I personally don’t enjoy in a book. Seems like lazy filler to me if there is no relation to moving the plot along.
Yes! I love it.
Read those years ago, loved the series
Loved them for a long time and then she just got weird. Haven’t read any in years now.
