I read it and kept waiting for something to happen. She whines through the entire book. I hated this book. But as you can see many people liked it. I would suggest reading a couple chapters and if you like it keep reading and if you hate it quit and find a better book.
I didnt enjoy it as much as other people. I dont know it just was missing something. I am going to give it to my niece and see if she has a different opinion than me. But I agree read a few chapters and decide. No one knows better than you what you enjoy reading.
I did for a book club. It was an interesting story, but I found her overall elitism and privilege to be rather off-putting. Couldn’t really relate to her because of it.
The Italy part was interesting, but later when she tried to go to India (or wherever it was, I don’t really care) and meditate…and she got so impatient…it was annoying. She wouldn’t calm down, and just sat there making fun of it like a little kid. And I listened to it on audio with the actual author reading it… She just bugged me.
It was so irritating. I liked the part where she went to Italy but when she came to India, I got super annoyed and left the book halfway. I finished it later on but it was just not worth the effort or time.
I listened to it. Enjoyed it!
I loved it!!! My favorite memoir by far, more involved but similar (and better of course) to the movie.
Yes, it’s a lovely book!
Amazing read
The Eat was good. The Pray and Love…not so much.
That was pretty much my feelings as well
Did not hear good things about it
Yes. I read it and I loved it. I just have to watch the movie.
I did! It was a good read.
I tried but couldn’t get past the first few chapters and gave up.
I read it. Not bad.
Really did not like it- found it to be terribly self indulgent & unappealing- know many people who loved it though.

The whining really got to me….
I can’t believe I suffered through the whole thing waiting for something to happen.
Read it and hated it.
Amen took me a few years to get through I agree with everything you wrote.
Read it AND saw the movie.
Didn’t like her at first-thought she only thought about herself but I did end up liking the book.

Yes! Loved the book. The movie was ok.
book was great
On my tbr pile
Loved it!
I loved it. You should also read the parody Drink, Play, F*ck by Andrew Gottlieb. It’s the story told from the man’s perspective.
Ohhh that sounds like a good read ?
@Sandra It’s fun
Yes and loved it
I loved it!! I think it depends on where you are in your life though that determines how you read it
Yes! I agree.
I love her.
Love the book and the movie!
Yep! I loved it!
I just didn’t enjoy it at all?
Thank your everyday for your thoughts on the book! After reading the reviews on goodreads and your thoughts on it I might hold off for now!
On my TBR pile still ?
I enjoyed the read
Yes, and I really didn’t care for it.
I HATED that book!!!!
Hated the movie too!
Same
Years ago, liked the part when she was in Italy.
I think the book was okay, though it would’ve been stuck on my tbr list if I haven’t seen the movie first.
I’m currently reading it! ?
It was the most self absorbed piece of garbage I have ever read. I did not pass it on to anyone else to read. I threw it in the garbage.
Exactly! I was like: „grow up, you selfish b****!“ ?
Agreed!!!
tops my list of the worst book I ever read
Same here!
yes
Listen to it on audio!
Hated it.
Did not like the book at all.
Yes. Enjoyed it.
Didn’t care for it.
I enjoyed the read!!
abandoned it…sorry
Enjoyed it but parts were overly long. Enjoyed Strayed by Cheryl strayed much better,
Just ok Watch the movie instead At least you will get to see some beautiful scenery
I enjoyed the eat portion and was bored to tears with pray & love
Yes. Many hold it in such high regard, but I thought it was a total snoozefest!
Yes and skip it
Reading this at the moment. I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying it, as it’s not my usual type of read.
Yes I found it very good very heart warming
A snore. She raptures over herbal and vegetable gardening techniques that I have been practicing for decades. Duh.
I did for a book club. It was an interesting story, but I found her overall elitism and privilege to be rather off-putting. Couldn’t really relate to her because of it.
I enjoyed it. I think it depends on where you are at in your life. It’s different for everyone. ?
My biggest problem with the book was that I listened and the author read it ( almost always a mistake). Her ‘attitude’ was very off-putting.

The first section was okay, and the last part was okay, but I completely skipped the middle section.
It was so irritating. I liked the part where she went to Italy but when she came to India, I got super annoyed and left the book halfway. I finished it later on but it was just not worth the effort or time.
