Yes!!!! I even have and read her sisters book. If you read all of them you will read some stories that you’ve already read in the other books but push through that. That show is my number one favorite and I’m gonna cry the day they are through lol
Ok ordering for sure. I just saw the set is $15. I too will cry when they are done. I was so upset when they changes characters after the first couple season’s but the new characters have ended up to be just as likeable!
I actually was so glad Jessica Riane(Jenny Lee) left the show lol she irritated me so much with her “good girl” stuff. I bawled when Sister Evangelina died…bawled. it was ridiculous lol. The Letters to the Midwife and In the Midst of Life can be hard to find. Took me forever to get all 5 because at the time they weren’t out as much as they are now. I then found out her sister wrote a book to so I had to get it as well.
I listened to the audiobook for the first one. Very moving, also a bit different from the shows. I haven’t been able to listen to the second one, since it is called “The Horrors of the Workhouse,” and the first one was haunting enough.
The show is based off of the books. It follows the books up to a certain season and then the show writers start makking their own stories about issues and use other stories(none Jennifer Worth related) from around then about midwifery and the medical scene
I love how real most of the birthday seem. Plus, the women tend to genuinely act like ladies during childbirth versus how women usually act in shows/movies.
I love it too!
I love that show too!
I love it also. Didn’t know it was a book as well. Bonus
Three books!!
I’ve read some…much prefer the wonderful tv series.
Yes, I read the 1st memoir. Very moving.
I’ve never seen the show but the book is phenomenal!
Aerica
Love the show also didn’t know it was a book also
I adore the show! But never read the books ?
I love it too!!!
I love the show. I do want to read the books.
Love the books!
The book was wonderful. And I love the TV series, too! But I haven’t read books 2 & 3.

Lol…she was a goodie 2 shoes…her whole love life story really bothered me. I can’t wait to start reading!
Is the sister book good? Was she midwife too?
I thoroughly enjoyed the series. I was unaware until recently that there were books but look forward to reading them.
Yes both are very good
I own the books but haven’t read them yet. I think they should be good though. Like you, I love the show.
The books are wonderful!
Yes books are good. Series is longer.
I love that show and hope that there are more seasons coming. I have not read the books but will look into them.
There are three books and they are outstanding!!! I recommend them all, highly. Just superb.
Yes I liked them verymuch.
I didn’t know there were books!! Will tackle
Are there books?
Yes! A series of 3 and a couple others. Someone commented above with a picture of them all.
Thank you @Victoria!
No problem?
I loved both the books and show!
Same here! I love the books and the series.
I listened to the audiobook for the first one. Very moving, also a bit different from the shows. I haven’t been able to listen to the second one, since it is called “The Horrors of the Workhouse,” and the first one was haunting enough.
Shadows of the Workhouse
You are right, haha I guess my mind kind of filled in what I am expecting from it. Thanks!
I’ve read the first three books. I loved the first book, but wasn’t quite as fond of the other two. I haven’t seen the TV series.
The t.v. series is wonderful! I have enjoyed just about every episode.
I read the books but like the show better.
The first book was really good, was a memoir. The series is adapted and enlarged, more drama.
I have and I loved them all. I have not caught up on the tv show.
The tv show IS fantastic!! Haven’t read the books, do the resemble the show??
The show is based off of the books. It follows the books up to a certain season and then the show writers start makking their own stories about issues and use other stories(none Jennifer Worth related) from around then about midwifery and the medical scene
So do I.
The books are great!
The books are way more bleak than the series.
Yes great books
The series now goes on beyond the period of the books. The stories are now from the writer, not jenny’s experiences.
I’m completely hooked on the show. Love it. Watching on Netflix and just finished season 3. Adore the characters.
Read the first one for book club. It was good.
yes enjoyed them.
For a show with some medical stuff they are the most accurate I’ve seen. That makes it much more enjoyable for me ?
I love how real most of the birthday seem. Plus, the women tend to genuinely act like ladies during childbirth versus how women usually act in shows/movies.
The books were good!
I read the original and it was good. The show has evolved, and I enjoy it a lot.
How many seasons are there of the show?
@Rita I think at least 4-5?
Didn’t know there was more than one book!
I’ve read the first book. I really liked it!
