I have been keeping one since I started university… Some ages ago… Only titles, authors and genres… I have recently started to keep a list of all the books I read within a year… Useful as I have been through quite a long dry spell : it keeps me on track and encourages me every day to keep making progress in the “time for myself” field
I use goodreads to catalogue what Iv read, what Iām reading and what I want to read, can review, leave notes, follow friends and authors, it gives suggestions based on what you like. I love it.
Yes … have done since 1995….. great to look back on … especially if you read more than a couple of a favourite authors tittles …..you can check what you have or have not read …..
i started an instagram a couple years ago, so i could keep a record and let the books go back out into the world. nyc apts arenāt big enough for a personal library ?
the wonderful thing about nyc is that you find A LOT of books on stoops. i have a rule: no buying books until youāve read all the ones you have…but that doesnāt apply to freebies ? so the library keeps growing ??āāļø
Yes, I have a book journal where I keep track of: books I have read each year, autographed books I own, books I want to read, books that are coming out this year, book quotes I love, author events I go to, etc. I also have a book database app on my phone that keeps track of all the books I own so that if I go to a bookstore, I donāt buy a book I already have :).
Yes! I have been keeping a list of books read listed by year for about 17 years. I love seeing how many books I’ve read each year and it’s a great resource to consult when I’m trying to find something new to read…I just look for authors of books I’ve enjoyed! Sometimes I give books a short summary and/or a star rating in my journal too.
Yes on Goodreads and a written list that I started in 2000. It deleted itself from my computer recently. I went completely numb. I did find an incomplete backup copy, however and was able to complete it by using my goodreads list. Was very relieved. Always have a backup?
I use Goodreads, but I love the idea of journaling and keeping a paper copy. I have had a Goodreads account since 2011, so it would be easy to backtrack.
I am such a nerd. When I start a book I start an index card and write the title and author. Then use it as a book mark. When Iām finished I write my little Review then it goes in the index holder ??
Started doing so about 9years ago on Shelfari. When they merged with Goodreads I transferred there. I take a screenshot of my lists each year so have them readily available. Enjoy going back and seeing what I have read.
Yes, simple app on my phone called To Read. Easy to use and helps me track what i read plus i can add books i want to read when I’m talking to my friends about books?
I never did before but now with Goodreads it makes it easy to keep lists. Also, you can keep a list of books you want to read. I like it because when people ask me for recommendations, I just look at the app or let them friend me and we share recommendations. It’s awesome. I highly recommend it!
Yes after reading for 50 yrs I have to keep track. My husband laughs at my notebooks. Every year I write all the books I want to read, always adding as the year goes on.
For each year I buy a reading journal, each page I note the book title, author and any notes that I may need to jot down to refresh my memory later about the book and also I make a note to self if I wrote a review on that book. I also use Goodreads to keep track of books read and to read.
Oh yes. Actually I kept separate lists each year on my blog, but I only have them for the past 12 years. For my daughter I have lists by year since birth.
I never used to, but I just joined Goodreads and started making my list. Itās going to take me quite a while to get it up-to-date. (Actually, Iāll probably never get it fully up-to-date. Too many from the distant past that will never get logged.)
I started a list a couple years ago. The older I get, the worse my memory is. I frequently start reading a book and realize partway through I had read it before!
It’s called Book Catalogue. it shows the order of the books in a series. You can also scan the barcode on the book to log it. Fast and easy. Shows lots of info about the book.
My dad always went to the same library after he retired and moved to a small town. He would send me to pick him out some books and the librarian would tell me if he had read them or not. He read so much it was hard to find something he hadn’t!
Funny to see this post just a moment after I looked through the record I’ve kept since 2005. I’ve read 229 books in those years. It’s fun to look back and remember what I was doing at the time I was reading something, or to see a streak of books by one author. It’s easy to do (or I wouldn’t be able to manage it)–and I’m glad to have this record. I recommend the practice.
I have the goodreads list which does it automatically if you add a book. I have added books that I read before joining goodreads, but not every book I have read in my life as there are some I don’t remember. My read books list has about 2,000 books on it though I think there must be others I have read in the past and forgotten which aren’t on it. Owned books are about half that number.
Started last year because our local paper has The Century Club that you can join if you read at least 25 books (quarter century member) in a year. Just published last years members and their suggestions are great.
Iāve kept a list of book title, author and date finished since 2000, it is kind of like having a journal because I can look back and remember where I was when I read something
Yes, I keep a journal with title of book, author, number of pages, start and end dates.
I started a journal last year, listing all of this information apart from the number of pages.
I should start this.
I have mine for the last 12 years and I kept lists for my kids until they were in high school.
Love the idea for myself, but real cool idea for kids.
@Jessie my kids really like remembering all those books.
I have been keeping one since I started university… Some ages ago… Only titles, authors and genres… I have recently started to keep a list of all the books I read within a year… Useful as I have been through quite a long dry spell : it keeps me on track and encourages me every day to keep making progress in the “time for myself” field
Ditto.
Only in recent years. I start a brand new list each year.
I wish I had been doing this. Going to start now
I started this year.
I just buy a copy of the book. Even if it was shit. Then i keep the read seperate from the unread so i know whats what.
Thanx to goodreads lol

I am such a nerd. When I start a book I start an index card and write the title and author. Then use it as a book mark. When Iām finished I write my little Review then it goes in the index holder ??
That is a great idea. I’m off to find some index cards.
I love this!

For several decades I have. A customer of the bookstore where I worked had lists from girlhood. (She was 80). I started my list after hearing that.
Bullet journal
Yes, digitally on Goodreads.
Yes, simple app on my phone called To Read. Easy to use and helps me track what i read plus i can add books i want to read when I’m talking to my friends about books?

Yes on paper then after computers on excel then goodreads.
I never did before but now with Goodreads it makes it easy to keep lists. Also, you can keep a list of books you want to read. I like it because when people ask me for recommendations, I just look at the app or let them friend me and we share recommendations. It’s awesome. I highly recommend it!
Goodreads
On goodreads
I do. It helps to motivate me to finish each book and get closer to my goal.
I use a Google spreadsheet to keep track of my stats: pages read, genres, where I got my books.
Yes after reading for 50 yrs I have to keep track. My husband laughs at my notebooks. Every year I write all the books I want to read, always adding as the year goes on.

I wish I had started way back when. I think I kept a list as a kid, but for some reason I stopped.

@Karen I think itās wonderful ā¤ļø?.
Goodreads lol.. And i still dont have them all cuz some titles I have forgotten
I wish I had!
Yes but mine needs updating
For each year I buy a reading journal, each page I note the book title, author and any notes that I may need to jot down to refresh my memory later about the book and also I make a note to self if I wrote a review on that book. I also use Goodreads to keep track of books read and to read.
Really good idea, especially the notes on the book and reviews.
I keep an art journal with my list of books I’ve read and the ones I want to read and I also draw and paint in it
I started last year on Goodreads.
What a great idea
Oh yes. Actually I kept separate lists each year on my blog, but I only have them for the past 12 years. For my daughter I have lists by year since birth.
Looks intriguing; other than title, etc., what else goes in there?
My boys’ drawings and notes (although my youngest is now 10) recipes, photos, theatre tickets. Basically nostalgia! ?
Goodreads
Yes, and enemies notes on each book.
Even
I never used to, but I just joined Goodreads and started making my list. Itās going to take me quite a while to get it up-to-date. (Actually, Iāll probably never get it fully up-to-date. Too many from the distant past that will never get logged.)
