Yes! Especially in books where there is lots of character development and you know them inside and out. I especially felt this with Where the Crawdads Sing.
The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend….. Think about those characters but know realistically there can’t be a sequel. Same with Descent by Tim Johnston.
Definitely! I spent approximately ten years of my life immersed in the Harry Potter books as they were being published. By the end, those characters were like family to me! And that’s why I have to revisit them every so often.
I’m an author and I fell deeply in love with one of my characters, a gigantic, wise, sentient feline named Solte. I kept putting off finishing writing the book because I didn’t want to leave her. I re-read her passages occasionally just to check in on her… (the book is “Pathwalker: A Soul’s Journey through Reincarnations”).
Quite often. Finishing an enjoyable book is as sad as any other ending. Sometimes, I have loved a book so much, I’ve closed it and gone straight back to the beginning. (I do reread my favorites, sometimes three or four times, but usually not right away)
All the time

I re-read my favourites all the time. My reading pattern is one new book and one old favourite.
