Let’s talk about reading speeds. How long does it take you to finish a 300 page book?
Let’s talk about reading speeds.
How long does it take you to finish a 300 page book?
Let’s talk about reading speeds.
How long does it take you to finish a 300 page book?
That all depends on the book, if it is a good book, 2 days, if not it might be weeks.
4 days with school
Differs, without the child and a good read probably a few hours. But since said child is home educated and alot of my recent books are slow starters, more like a few days
About 4 days. I’m a busy gal lol so I read some before bed all while going to bed at a reasonable hour
3-4 hours if that
I could finish that the same day if I started it after lunch and had a lazy afternoon and evening.
4-5 hours to 3-4 days. It just depends
If it is really good, I can in about 8 to 9 hours
Depends on the book. About 2 days, however I read Verity in about 24 hours.
Depends on how invested I am in the book, could be a few hours, could be a few days
A couple of hours
Some times it takes me a while depending on what book it is and how into the book but I am slow reader most of the time.
If it’s good a couple of hours. If it’s a slow read, couple of days. I’m a fairly quick reader when I sit down to read so all depends on the book
Depends on the size of the font, what else is going on in my life, and how engaging the book is.
Depends on the size ?
Depends on the book, depends on the day could be a day or so. I’m reading a 600+page book now and I’m on day 4 or 5 because I didn’t have time to read for 2 days
About a week
It depends for me. If I have anything else to do, how invested I am in the story, etc. I’ve finished a 400 some page book in like 2 days, been on a 300 some page one right now for almost a week because of easter and everything.
At work 4 to 6 hours…at home maybe 4 hours….
3 days
If it’s good book I’ll finish it 6 hrs..
Couple weeks
if it’s really good a couple of sittings.
Depends on the book and what is happening in my life. If I am working I can only read a wee bit waiting to go home and when at home. If a day off and nothing planned and if I am into it, 3 hours maybe more maybe less xxz
During the regular work week I usually only read for a half hour or so before bed so I feel like at that pace it takes me awhile. 3-4 weeks. Weekends and vacations I can find more time and make faster progress. In general I think I take well above the average time, just because I don’t have as much time.
If it’s a good book it will be done in 4-6 hours. Other than that maybe two days. That’s reading in the evening or on the weekend.
@Dawn OMG…… ? You must be a speed reader and have an untidy house and be very very skinny!
@Joy nope. I’m OCD about the house. That’s why I don’t read as much as I would like. Ha ha!
3 days balancing mother and wife duties
2-3 days
Depends how much I am enjoying it and how much time I have. If I am on holiday for 10 days I can get through at least 4 books. A 300 page one probably 2 days
8 hrs
Depends on the book.. how much thinking and feeling is behind the words.. the speed the pictures build in my mind…
Anything between 3 hours and a week.
It depends on the book and what’s going on at home.
Depends on life. But sometimes if it’s really really good I tell my family I’ll do stuff after I finish my book.
A day…but I read when I’m not busy at work
Too many variables with that question. When reading tax manuals, 300 pages can take a while but a great novel, not very long. Also depends on what is happening in my life. 🙂
A day if I have the time
Depends on genre……classics written in old english definitely take longer than modern novels!
1-2 days
Four-five hours depending on interuptions.
Depends…anywhere from 3 days to 5 days
A week or two. I only read in bed.
2-3 days
It depends. If it grabs me and is fast-paced I could read in a day, but if it’s slow moving it may take a week or even longer.
That totally depends on my life around reading.
Yep depends on the book…
No speed, just enjoy. Think about character, plot, message, etc.
1-3 days depending on how good it is?
Normally a couple of hours
Depends if I love it 1-2 days if I not a week or two
Typically 5-7 days ?
Usually the weekend.
if i sit down and read straight through about 4 hours
If im able to just sit and read it, usually a few hours
A few weeks
It depends on the kind of book. Some books require a more active reader, you might need / want to lookup things to get a better understanding.
It depends on the book and my rl schedule.
Depends on my schedule
Why does it matter?
Prob a month! Haha I’m so slow!!! I only can read a couple chapters a week usually do to my schedule!
Why? Who cares.
Depends on the book. 4 hours if its good. 4 years and never if it aint..
Many people on this page are all about speed reading and pumping out as many books as possible. I would rather take my time on a good book and enjoy. It’s not a contest who can read the most in a month, is it? If so, I missed the post of prizes.
Thank you! I feel the same way!!
I have never got that from this page.. what I get from this page is that people love to read and most like to complain.
Depends on how much my daughter naps, how dirty the house is and how busy it is at work. Might take me a couple of days, might take me a couple of weeks
Jemma Ward- Slack, mom job & book reading, certainly unfair combination!
Indeed. Wouldn’t change it for the world tho… Just would like her to nap more ?
If it’s a good book I may stay up all night reading it. Makes for a rough day afterwards.
3 days ish depending on how good it is x
Same as the last post: 1.21 gigawatts
All depends on how well I am enjoying the book
Yes, I have to agree with everyone else. There are a lot of factors to consider here. It depends on whether I’m really enjoying the book or not, whether I’m even in the mood to read or not and what kind of time I have to devote to reading. If I’m enjoying it and have the time I could finish it in a couple days or if not enjoying or just aren’t in the mood for reading it could take months.
Probably a week
1-2 days
Depends on the book!
Can be done in 3 days if i really enjoy it
I just got off an 8 hour night shift. I sometimes watch people at the hospital so they don’t pull out IVs or tubes or get out of bed if they’re fall risks. And I read 316 pages in 6.5 hours
For me, it was a page turner
However long it takes, I don’t time myself when reading, as I’m enjoying the book rather than watching the clock
It depends how good the book is, if it has me hooked from the beginning I can read 300 pages in a day but if it’s a slow book it can take me a bit to get into it ?
How do you combat reading fatigue?? 300 pages can take me 48 hrs or a week
Which book are we talking about?
Depends on the book. If I’m really in to it and have no commitments, I can take that down in 5 hours. If the book sucks or I’m busy, weeks?
Day
What’s the font size and size of the book?
Also, depends on the book. I am currently reading Verity, two days in and I’m at 220 pages. There are about 300 in the book and plan to finish today
2-3 days x
Anywhere from a few hours to a day or 2. Depends on the book and what going on.
Is it a race?
Why does someone always ask this? He’s just asking! Some like to read fast and complete the book. Others take their time. To each their own! Lol
@Meg It’s definitely not! Everyone is different… some folks just like to brag.
Depends on the book. But usually under 24 hours.
About a week but it does depend on the book & what’s going on in my life. It could also be a day or a few weeks
About a page a minute
Depends what the book is, whether easy or hard read, I’ve finished a book in a couple of days but that’s rare. Usually 5-12 days. Some days I only read a page or two.
If I really enjoy it and have the uninterrupted time to read…about 2 days. If it’s really show it could take me weeks.
Depending what i’m doing normally a couple days. If i have day off then i can read within a day
I could do it in a day
Depends what time I have and the book. When I’m busy months if I have free time and it’s a good book 2 to 3 days
A four hour flight
About 3 hours.
Could be a day, could be 7 months. ?
Generally about 3-4 days, of course I don’t read straight through. I do not speed read as I than do not soak up what I’m reading to understand it. I don’t see a point to speed reading, don’t enjoy it as much that way.
A week depending what I have going on.
Anywhere between half a day and a week, depending on how much time I have to read. Has nothing to do with speed reading or how fast I read for me.
If I don’t work a day, when working a month…
normally like 2/3 days
depends. i can read acotar in a day. other books take me anywhere from 3 days to two weeks. just depends how much i love the book.
Depends on how quickly invested I am on the story. I’ve devoured 300+ books in a day or two.
@Chris it’s takes me two or three months to read that many pages
True. I fortunately had enough time on my hand to read
@Chris oh I blame my adult adhd , or that Facebook fit in the way ir I was watching tv or naming dinner , or just a slow reader
You will find the time to read. I imagine that happening on a beach or on a camping trip. Me? When it’s raining
Michelle Phillips I’m easily distracted too! Look, a squirrel!
Maybe 3 hours.
@Leslie OMG how do u do it? Would luv to be able to do that
@Alison I just get in my “zone” and I can’t walk away from it. Sometimes I can’t even stop to pee ?
@Leslie ha ha ??
Depends on how much time I have uninterrupted
Depends on who wrote it
Hour and a half to two hours
@Mari WOW how do u do that?
@Alison, I was taught speed reading as a child. I read three lines forward at once, then three lines backwards. Makes it fast. Trust me..I prefer to take my time but if the story is good, lol.
@Mari cool ?
Fiction takes short of two hours. Biographies or other factual books that longer.
@Cecilia that’s incredible how to u do that?
@Alison I am a pretty fast reader but don’t read each word of a fiction book. I scan down the pages. Biographies and anything with pertinent facts, I have to read each word to retain.
I have no idea. A long time. It is not a race. I do it for enjoyment
@Susan Same. I only speed read with some of my favorite fiction writers… because I get overly excited and want to make sure I read everything they have written . Lol.
If I can sit down and read uninterrupted, less than four hours.
9 hours? Give or take
when I was in my teens , I could read that in a day, now it takes me about a week
I thought about taking a speed reading course but decided I really don’t need to read faster.
Honesty it depends on the book. A good book a couple days. One that’s slow to get into, a week
No idea. I savor, digest, absorb and appreciate every word.
About a month
My rate of reading varies with my interest in the book
Maybe 3 hours or so
Half a week to a week.
Like @Lisa, three hours or so if not distracted…for fiction. When I’m buried non-fiction, especially history (George, Nicholas and Wilhelm: Three Royal Cousins and the Road to World War I) then things slow down considerably.
@Deborah , same. depends on if I’m reading for pleasure or reading for work. I have to read a lot of technical accounting material, that takes forever!
Depends on the book. Mostly I only read when I go to bed and I read until I fall asleep. It takes me about two weeks to read 300 pages, give or take a couple days.
Three days if I can really glue myself to it. A couple of weeks with ordinary cirumstances. Three months or longer with how stressed, fried, and distracted I’ve been lately.
A week on average depends as I work full time I generally only read at bedtime
a couple of hours….
Depends if no one is bothering me ?
About 3 days? That includes school, and everything in between.
Couple of hours, roughly, depending on how into it I am.
Depends on the story line
Depends on how much reading time I get because of work, family life etc.
Depends on the book usually 2 to 3 days
Depends on how much fun it is to read. If not fun, you struggle with it. Larger print can be read quicker then smaller.
