I’ve only read Tipping the Velvet a long time ago. I remember liking it.
I was wrong, no movie. But when I read it, it was so vivid it was like a movie in my head. I could see every inch of that house.
Check out the Ava Lee series by Ian Hamilton. Ava is a Chinese Canadian lesbian forensic accountant and the books are a lot more fun than that sounds! She is a proper kick-ass heroine. The first one is The Water Rats of Wanchai.

Yes. Lindsay Gordon, a Scottish journalist. Maybe half a dozen books. Dark, sometimes, but not her darkest by a long chalk.
The Dime. By Kathleen Kent. Lesbian cop moves to Texas.
The Monkey’s Mask by Dorothy Porter. It’s all in verse, but once you get going, you’ll forget it’s written like that and enjoy it.
Laurie King (author of Mary Russell series) has a lesbian detective called Kate Martinelli. Five books I think.
