The Devil’s Knot by Mara Leveritt, The Killing of Tupac Shakur by Cathy Scott, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt, and Adnan’s Story by Rabia Chaudry are all very good. The Devil’s Knot is about the West Memphis Three. It is always the first true crime book I recommend to anyone asking. Adnan’s Story is about Adnan Syed from the Serial podcast.
Under the Banner of Heaven, Into the Wild, pretty much anything by Jon Krakauer. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is excellent. Anything by Erik Larsen. Ann Rule has some good books but they are “tabloidish”.
@Sammantha and @Kim read a lot of true crime. I’m newer to the genre. ?
