Any Ready Player One readers? I’m about 100 pages in and I love it! So much better than the movie (which I did like).

It’s awesome!
I’ve been looking at it – but haven’t taken the plunge!!
The movie was awful but I loved the book !
I bought it for my classroom, but I haven’t read it yet.
I couldn’t put it down
Loved it! Definitely didn’t expect to as I’m not a gamer. But I am an 80s kid! It was such a fun read. I enjoyed the movie even though it was NOTHING like the book.
Loved the book, kind of disappointed by the movie but I’ll watch it again, give it another chance
I loved it (book) – and I’m not a gamer. But then I’m old enough to get all the 80’s references.
Ditto!
I was just impressed with how many more layers there are in the book. And I keep thinking, why didn’t they put this in the movie?? I never understand why movie adaptations change so much of the book (Shopaholic, Something Borrowed, etc.)
While I loved the book, the challenges wouldn’t have translated to the screen. Perfect game of Pac Man? Recite all of MB’s dialogue to War Games? Boring to watch. There may also have been licensing issues with some of those challenges so they had to work with what they could.
The movie was ok, but it felt very superficial, especially if you’ve read the book (the book was amazing!). There was so much they left out and and (imo) unnecessarily changed for the movie adaptation
My favorite!!!!
Loved the book!! Have heard the movie was bad- so not sure I’m going to watch it.
I thought the movie was good, not great. I probably would’ve liked it less had I read the book first, bc they do change a number of things (seemingly unnecessarily, as someone pointed out above). I appreciated that the movie had some good action but wasn’t super violent, blood and guts etc.
Loved it. And it gets better as it goes!
I loved it! I listened on audio and Will Wheaton did a great job.
I loved it and Armada was great too
Love love love it!!! Couldn’t stop reading it at work!!
I loved it! I’m an 80’s kid and played lots and lots of video games (then and now). I couldn’t put it down. I won’t watch the movie, not because it sucked, but because I never watch movies made from my favorite books. It’s so perfect in my mind that no screen version could possibly do justice!
Loved it. Hated the movie
It was so good we bought a copy of Armada (his other book). It was excellent too. I love all the pop culture!
Loved the book (not my usual genre) but I’m an 80s kid. Haven’t seen the movie
Loved it! Cant wait to see movie!
I love the audio version
Movie is VERY different than the book. Enjoyed them both, though.
So good!
Loved both for entirely different reasons. I felt like it was to completely different takes on the same story line. It captured me because there are so few books made into movies where I don’t end up nitpicking the movie.
I loved the book. It took multiple times for it to grab me, but then I thought it was awesome. Helped relive my ’80’s teen years.
Loved the book! Haven’t yet seen the movie. I am making my 13-year-old finish the book first.
Loved the book, loved the movie!
I enjoyed the book, as did my 14 year old son. I’ve been recommending the book to others. My son also enjoyed Armada, so I might give that one a go as well.
My teenage son loved this book also. He even did a book project on it in HS!
The book is fabulous although I did the audible version narrated by Wil Wheaton… soooooo good.
It’s one of my favorite books
Amazing!!!
I listened to it on audio. It was amazing. I listen in the car and I never wanted to get out of the car and I was always excited to get back in to go somewhere! Lol
One of my all time favorites. I highly recommend you listen to the auido book narriated by Wil Wheaton. He is amazing.
Armada was pretty good too.
Yes! Way better than the movie…especially if you grew up in the 80s..lots more references
Loved this book!
I loved it!!
??♀️??♀️??♀️. Loved it!
Loved it! I was pretty disappointed in the movie
I haven’t seen the movie, but the book is great!
Loved all the 80’s references. Heard the movie is not great… but I’ll probably watch it anyway. I’m usually not a sci-fi reader, but my BIL recommended it, and he’s got good taste in books so I gave it a shot. So glad I did!
The movie is good. Well done, I think; however, obviously can’t completely encompass everything in the book. It’s worth a watch. My husband absolutely loved it, although he didn’t listen to the Audible version…I did. Wil Wheaton does a GREAT job bringing the story to life!
Loved it and I don’t even like those kind of books!
I enjoyed it until the last 50 pages or so. It felt like the author just decided it was time to be done. The ending felt rushed and incomplete. It did not fit the rest of the book imo.
This ?
I’ve owned that book forever. I got it as a gift at least five years ago and it just sat on a shelf, always getting bumped in favor of other books. But I made myself read in January as soon as I hear there was a movie coming out because if I’m going to read the book, it’s always Book before Movie for me. And I LOVED it. I can’t believe I waited so long to read it.
I also enjoyed the movie, though it is a lot different than the book.+
Loved it!!! So much!!
I absolutely loved it! I enjoyed Armada by the same author but was not as taken with it. That is likely because I felt that Ready Player One was such an homage to my most formative years, the 80s.
I loved it! I also enjoyed the movie, even though it was different. I thought it was well-done!
I loved it! When I talk to a non-reader, I always tell them to give this book a try.
Loved it! I wish I would have watched the movie before I read the book!
I really enjoyed it too!
One of my favorite books!! The movie disappointed.
Love, Love, Love.
This is my go to! Audiobook is narrated by Wil Wheaton!
I sincerely hope interactive movies become a real thing.
Read it 2x before we saw the movie. The movie’s storyline wasn’t even close to as good as the book.
Loved it! I enjoyed the movie too but I had been warned it was only loosely based on the book so I went in prepared for a different experience.
I really liked it, too. Any suggestions for anything similar? The closest I’ve read is Constellation Games. I would read more like this
I loved it so much! I liked the character development, the scavenger hunt element, the natural flow of the story and how real it seemed even though it was future set. I think about this book frequently and, honestly, hope the characters are doing well now. (surely I’m not the only one who thinks of characters as continuing on after the book ends. Right? Right? Please tell me I’m not the only one! ?) I haven’t seen the movie yet because I was afrId they may have done a poor job of it.
It’s an ok standalone but nowhere near how good the book was!
Honestly, just watch the movie knowing that it’s totally different from the book. Just forget the book for two hours. ?
It’s my favorite book written in this decade
Soooo good!
I must be missing something, lol. But I am just not getting into it!
Loooove it.
My son gave me a copy but I was afraid it wouldn’t be interesting. I will give it a shot.
I really loved it! Did not see the movie but the book was great!
It’s total Nerdvana. ?
I loved this book!
My husband loved both the book and the movie!
Loved the audio book
It was awesome!!
