Yes and I really enjoyed it even though I’m not a gamer. I made it one of the summer reading choices for my students this year and had the highest average test scores of any English teacher. Not sure if I’ll repeat it though because of the movie.
Yes!! My brother @Ethan got it for me for Xmas! Absolutely loved it!! My boyfriend also really enjoyed it. I’m less of a gamer but was able to still really like it. He got more of the references which made it that much better for him.
Finished last night. I’m an 80s kid and it was just ok for me, too much exposition (sometimes very conveniently and obviously located for later use), so much background to be explained and get through (ad minimum, the first 9 chapters…), it slowed the whole plot for me and kept throwing me out of the story when it kept happening. I feel the book is very conscious of itself. Visually the film should be richer with more references than the book (many hidden there, not explained). Hope so! Pure escapism but not a book I’ll re-read.
I’m a huge sci fi fan and had very high hopes for this one but it was a little too video game-centric for me. I was hoping for a balance of strong futuristic concepts to balance the fantasy escapism of the virtual world.
Gila Cohen-Shaw thanks for that recommendation, checking it out now! – Oh my, there are four different books with that title, can you tell me who the author is?
I love games, in a kid of the 80s, this should have been an easy love. But it felt more like product placement than homage. And I can’t stand the protagonist. Also, every few pages, I’m reminded of other better books that a plot point is reminiscent of.
I finished it last week. I enjoyed it, but the pacing for me was difficult. I was bored at several points, but stuck with it and ultimately enjoyed it.
Loved it!
Enjoyed it a lot! Looking forward to the movie.
My last read. Enjoyed it – and I’m an old lady. ?
Me too. I just passed it on to a grandson.
Yes. Enjoyable. Brings back the ‘80s memories ❤️ Is it our future? The stacks were a crazy idea?
Loved it! I’m pretty sure I read the whole book in 3-4 hours because of how sucked into it I was.
It was amazing. Thinking about reading it again after I watch the movie
It was excellent
Lots of hype
Loved it, you want to read it before the movie, they will probably have a hard time getting all of it into a movie.
Yep! Im doing that@
I enjoyed it
I’m half-way through. I wouldn’t call it my favorite book but it’s enjoyable and fun.
Good book
Loved it!
Loved it!

I really enjoyed it

@LoriJamrok, i can’t keep it aside. Its 8.30 am, i haven’t slept all night and i just can’t keep it aside. What a stunning book!
So glad u loved it
@Mehraavar That is how I was, even tho I didn’t want it to end, and purposely tried to read slower I just couldn’t. He left a real gift behind.
Where are you that its 830am? It is 1030pm here, I’m in Indiana.
I’m reading that now as well.
@Lori I’m in Pakistan?
Love it
Loved it. Listening to it again and finding myself thinking about the movie, “they can leave this and that out but not this. Ooh, what about that?”
And look at the poster and think, “I know what just happened!”
Re-reading it right now before the movie. Love Love Love <3
Loved it
, just started!
I’m a few chapters in and liking it!
Me too!
Hubby got it in his gamers box today. I’m on page 16 ?

Pretty much everyone I know seems to have read it and loved it! It’s on my list!
I’m halfway through & liking it (65-year old female, not a gamer)
Yep. Awesome, especially if you grew up in the 80’s. Read it in one day.
????
It’s one of my book club’s April book-of-the-month ☺
Started and did not finish years ago. I’m an 80s kid so maybe I am the odd one out here.
I have
I liked it very much and I am NOT in any way interested in video games, etc.
Trying !!
I’m a huge sci fi fan and had very high hopes for this one but it was a little too video game-centric for me. I was hoping for a balance of strong futuristic concepts to balance the fantasy escapism of the virtual world.
I tried to, but didn’t get past the first chapter. Not for me.
Being from the 80s and liking video games, I loved it!
Loved it so much I gave it as Christmas gifts to friends…
Yes! I loved it!!!
Currently reading it. It’s a struggle.
I stopped and picked up the Immortalists which I could not put down
Gila Cohen-Shaw thanks for that recommendation, checking it out now! – Oh my, there are four different books with that title, can you tell me who the author is?
@Nancy I loved how it unfolded….
@Gila was this by Scott Britz?

@Nancy no Chloe Benjamin – Immortalists ( plural) – I do think there is one “singular”
@Gila awesome, thank you!
@Nancy let me know your thoughts!!
@Nancy The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin.
Fantastic book!
I loved it!
Definitely loved it.
Ya very easy to read!
I thought it started slow. There is lots of background info, but it’s necessary to understand the plot.
read it! Liked it
Yes, grandma here but enjoyed it even though the last game I played was PAC-MAN…

Im struggling with it
I listened on audio and DNF’d it! Too much gaming for me. Not enought 80’s references.
Having a tough time with it
Listened to it—loved the audiobook!
