@Taylor have you read They Both Die at the End? Totally different story and style but similar in the you never know how one small thing might impact someone else.
The Outsiders – in middle school Elsewhere – in middle school To Kill a Mockingbird – in 9th grade The Perks of Being a Wallflower – in 10th grade Persepolis – in 10th grade The Book Thief – my first year teaching The Handmaid’s Tale – my second year teaching The Great Gatsby – I read it first in 12th grade, but I would say my opinion morphed and changed when I taught a lesson on it in graduate school (studying to be an English teacher) and again when I teach it now almost 10 years later.
Oh my goodness, we must have lived parallel lives – this is pretty much my list as well. The only two I haven’t read are Persepolis and Perks of Being a Wall Flower. I would add 100 years of Solitude, In the Time of the Butterflies, Lord of the Flies, the Stand and a Prayer for Owen Meany.
Well, seeing as that we’re basically the same person, I need to add all of those to my TBR list (the only one I’ve read is LOTF).
You MUST read both. Since you liked THT, you’ll love Persepolis. If you’ve seen 13 Reasons Why on Netflix and liked it, you’ll like Perks too. It has some similar themes, but it’s way better. I read it once a year in high school.
The Bell Jar God-Shaped Hole by Tiffanie Debartolo Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher All the Bright Places Harry Potter wayyy back in the day, because it reintroduced me to my love of reading.
