The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay,Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks, Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, Skinny Bitch by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. and so many more
Since you loved those books like I did. Read ” Manchild in the Promised Land”. Excellent book about a black person growing up in the Ghetto . Really tells you the situation where children grow up in one family homes, no father figure, no people to look up to as mentors, gang related, black on black violence. The author just upped and walked out of the ghetto with the clothes on his back. We had to read it in high school along with Black Like Me. I forget the authors name . It is riveting. Just ignore the fowl language which is how they speak. A moving book.
Frankenstein, Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby, The Divine Comedy, Madame Bovary, The Picture of Dorian Grey, The Outsider, The Catcher in the Rye, 1984, Brave New World.
