Who else hates the Kindle but still needs it due to practicality? I hate the lack of personal touch and feeling you get with a book……
Who else hates the Kindle but still needs it due to practicality? I hate the lack of personal touch and feeling you get with a book……
Not me . I love mine!
Me too @Susan
Love my kindle, light weight, read it in the dark. Over 300 books 🙂
Love, love, love my kindle!!
I used to feel the same but now love the ease of my kindle and so many books for 99p what can be wrong
And the benefit of downloading a sample first.
Honestly went kicking and screaming into the kindle experience, dragging my feet and declaring loudly to anyone who would listen, “It’s not REAL reading!” Now, two upgrades later, I love it… I’ve gotten so spoiled by the one touch definition feature.
Heathens the lot of you ???. You can’t beat the feel and smell of a book.
Dare I say, I took all my book the the charity shop. My kindle is such a space saver ?
Absolutely love my kindle never buy books now
I never thought I would get used to it but I have now can’t be without it x
I would have to pay for extra baggage allowance if I didn’t have my kindle!
Love it!
Nor me x
Love mine
Love love love it.
Prefer a real book any time but see the advantage of a kindle when travelling .I see that book shops are doing well with sales up while sales of Kindles declining
Wouldn’t be without mine.
I love my Kindle.
Love my kindle and prefer it now to physical books as i have lots of books with me where ever i go.
I have both, prefer the Kindle for reading in bed 🙂
Lurve my kindle! It’s a simplistic and clinical way of reading so many books.. and after witnessing some paper mites amongst the pages in the past, no thanks, I’m no longer icked out
Love mine!
Love, love mine….. prized possession
I love my Kindle as it saves me having to carry my reading glasses everywhere.
Love my kindle but you can’t beat proper books either.
I don’t see why you can’t love your kindle and physical books too! I know I do!
I love my kindle but do prefer a paperback however books are so much cheaper on kindle too I find.
I love mine because you can make the print large.
I I much prefer books! I use kindle as it’s cheaper to buy books, but mostly I use library for books!
I have a love hate relationship with my kindle . I love the convenience and being able to download a book whenever I like and reading where ever. But I prefer a real book I do tend to lose my way with a kindle book and forget the plot more. I don’t find it as easy to flick back to reread bits and as much as I love the paperwhite for reading in the dark I hate that the covers aren’t in colour. That all said my arthritic hands find it difficult to hold a real book. Overall the kindle is better for me x
I don’t mind the kindle for (what would have been..) paperback novels but I love a nice coffee table book, reference book or an atlas!
I’ve gotten to the point where, if I have a choice, I really only prefer physical copies if it’s by a favorite author or part of a series I collect. Then it becomes sort of a special treat.
Love Ebooks from the library on my iPad.
I love my kindle. I could not go back to “books”
I can’t hold books any more. They get thicker and heavier all the time and I can’t carry the weight anymore so a kindle is ideal for me.
Love books Love Kindle- actually a lot more than I thought I would
I don’t hate it but I’ve not fallen in love with it either. . Love a paperback
Still love paperbacks it’s far more enjoyable than reading off a screen
Love my books but the kindle is handy for our long holidays ?
I prefer kindle now as easier to manage my books and takes up a lot less space.
I understand the feel of a real book what I dislike is paper cuts so kindle doesn’t give you those. Also lighter to a point as well
I would take a book any day over the kindle as I still like to hold and feel a book but alas kindle is ideal for quantity and lack of space in my house lol
@Melanie ooh thanks ? will go do that
I miss the book covers on mine.
Me too
Love a real paperback but have read all those I bought back at the end of July so back to kindle again. I have 250 unread back in UK but sadly can only carry back about 25 each time I come. Owing to us having no internet for 17 days I have got through everything I bought back at the end of July.
Me, I much prefer an actual book but health problems mean I have to use a Kindle frequently
Couldn’t do without my kindle but love the smell of a proper book
I absolutely love my kindle & I love books too. I see no reason why you can’t love both. I use my kindle more these days though as books cheaper.
I don’t hate my Kindle, iPad, iPhone or PC. They are just convenient, and I use them at will. They are not books, though -and I love books.
Must be a book for me!
Love mine lot of pain in hands and shoulders so easier for me to read with a kindle .
I have a kindle but don’e really enjoy reading large quantities of text on any screen. Much prefer printed pages – easier on the eyes
I love my kindle. I must be honest and say I do not miss books at all. It has opened my eyes to authors, that I would never have come across either in a library or book shop. Still enjoy the wonder of book shops for all my grandchildren.
Book shops are an endangered species.
Love and hate my kindle, prefer real books.
Need the smell always a book
I adore my kindle. Makes reading far more accessible to me. However, nothing compared to the experience of a paperback!
Must be paper format for me.. very occasionally kobo,
love the kindle, love paper books!
Here we go again. Have to bash on the e-reader instead of just freaking celebrate THAT PEOPLE ARE READING. If going to pick on something, pick the real rip-off people use to inflate their reading egos: audiobooks.
I travel a lot. Kindle is the only way, but there’s nothing like the feel of a book. Unless it’s something like the Luminaries, and then I get RSI just holding the thing.
sometimes, with older books, I have to use my tab to read, I personally prefer turning pages…x
Love my kindle. Actually when I die, I want to be buried with it. Fully charged of course.
Its got to be a proper book! I’m also a writer and I write everything by hand before I type it up. But I’m old fashioned. ?
I don’t hate the Kindle but would prefer DTB. You mentioned ‘needs’ and ‘practicality’…. Yup, that is the reason I use one: dodgy hands and dodgy eyes. GREAT, BIG, FAT books weigh the same on a Kindle….. and I can choose the size of the FONT to match the mood of my eyes.
Yeah, I wrote a blog post (no self promo, don’t worry, haha) about that sort of thing as many people don’t realise just how much more accessible Kindles can make reading and all the features they have. Many people don’t even think about its bonuses aside from the size and being able to take tonnes of books anywhere. There’s lots of features. Even a font to help dyslexic people and ANY book can be a large print book with a kindle and the weight of a book is problematic for some less able people too so there’s that factor as well as the ability to turn pages by tapping rather than physically turning them which is also a bonus for many. As much as I love a paperback, I much rather read a book on my kindle than not read at all! ?
@Elizabeth you summed it up perfectly! My first Kindle was a gift from my son at a time when my dodgy hands and eyes were leading me to think my reading days might be numbered. I now believe I will read until the lid goes on! All the extra weight for holiday gear I’ve gained is a big bonus too!
Love my kindle but still pick up the occasional book
I love my Kindle but I do prefer paper books
I love my Kindle. I wouldn’t have found a fraction of the books I’ve read and discovered brilliant authors without it.
I don’t know what I would do without my kindle. I haven’t touched a real book in years now.
I’m the same, haven’t read a book in ages!
Am a huge fan of my kindle and would not be without it, I have read a lot more books because of it.
I am the same. I read more books than I would with paperbacks
Yeah having Kindles my reading greatly, too.
Books only fall to the floor when you fall asleep. Kindles break when they fall to the floor and you step in it. Books remain okay?
Here’s a thought: don’t fall asleep before putting the book/Kindle down. Though with a Kindle you could read in bed with someone asleep right next to you and never bother them – then just close the cover when you are ready to sleep.
I just adore my kindle. My eyes are deteriorating so with the back light and larger font its great and light.I am lost without it.I now have the kindle app on my android.
Love my kindle because it is lightweight and means I can read no matter how bad my arthritis is,
