She’s a translator; possibly the best there ever was. Greek, too.
I must have looked at half a dozen different translations of Aristotle’s “Ethics” before I found Garnet’s; the only one that was good enough to bother with.

Also a huge Russian literature fan, so… this is helpful.
The translations by Pevear & Volokhonsky are also very highly regarded.
These are wonderful and, IMO, make the Garnett translations seem rather clunky.

did some of my own translating in the old days but it took unbearably long time
