I came across a fair amount of buzz when the first book came out, but the series is still going strong and I never see it mentioned anymore although it’s just as good IMO. There was just a new release in January. This last one wasn’t my favorite but still good.
I love Flavia! And I believe the next book is the last of the series, so that makes me sad. But I know there were talks about the BBC doing a mini series bases off the series!
That makes me sad too but it might be the right time. I felt the last book was a little bit lacking in the youthful exuberance that makes the series so charming, but Flavia is growing up and has been through some things so that’s the natural progression of the story at this point. (Trying to keep it spoiler free ?.) Id LOVE a miniseries, the BBC always does such a good job.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I keep wondering how the series will end. And yes, I think the BBC will do a wonderful job if they decide to carry on with the plans. (If I remember right, each book would be an episode.)
I LOVE that series! I just read the latest and it was terrific. I hope the rumors aren’t true; these books could go on forever and I would read every one.
I would too. A kickass, brilliant, witty, brave, and flawed female lead who didn’t come out of the womb fully perfectly formed and doesn’t spend half the book pining for a boy!? Sign me up indefinitely! ?
I usually lean more towards underrated books/series so I have many favorites: Fantasy/Dystopian – The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken – Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl – Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr – Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater Contemporary: – My Life Next Door, The Boy Mostly To, and What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick – My New Crush Gave to Me by Shani Petroff – The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout – Pushing the Limits (series, books are not in a specific order) and Say You’ll Remember Me by Katie McGarry – The Lovely Reckless and Broken Beautiful Hearts by Kami Garcia – Perfect Chemistry (trilogy) by Simone Elkeles – Guitar Notes by Mary Amato – Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines (first book of The Field Party series!) – The Truth About Forever, Once and For All, Lock and Key, Along For the Ride, Keeping the Moon, and Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
@Tammy The only thing I’d be wary going into the series is that the writing seems more juvenile than a lot of YA. But if you’re looking for a quick read, I’d definitely recommend it! 🙂
Anything by Seanan McGuire and Ilona Andrews and Longmire by Craig Johnson. May be underrated elsewhere by you can only special order these authors in Australia so if you recommend them people give you funny looks and have no idea what they are missing??
