Charcoal Joe by Walter Mosley. Published in 2016 set in LA 1968. A bit old fashioned noir, a bit if history mixed in as well.

I like John Hart. Loved redemption road!! I swear I think I read last child and now I can’t remember for certain even after reading description . How sad
