What’s been your favorite book for January? Mine is Iron Gold.
As January wraps up, what’s been your favorite book this month?
Mine is a toss up between The Disappearance of Winter’s Daughter by Michael J. Sullivan and Iron Gold by Pierce Brown

Sanshirō by Sōseki Natsume.
Had to look this one up, it sounds really interesting. A total depart from what I usually read, I’m adding it to my TBR pile and branching out!
Ready player one
I have got to read this. I didn’t think I was a sci fi fan, but recently some books have changed my mind!
Same here but it was fun to read.
I’m listening to the audiobook right now.
I read 15 books this month, I loved probably 9 of them, completely disliked 1, and the others were just ok. My favorite was either Once We Were Brothers by Ronald Balson or The Stolen Marriage by Diane Chamberlain.
Brenda, I love that you were able to get 15 books in!! Just the title The Stolen Marriage makes me want to pick it up!
So worth the read. I am just starting The Bay at Midnight by her now. I’ve been on a WWII kick and needed an emotional break.
@Brenda I go on kicks too. Just read the synopsis and it sounds so good!! Adding it to my TBR pile!!
PIERCE BROWN!!!!!
That’s all I have to say. I just love his books and love when I meet fellow reader.
Oh my gosh, YES! That’s exactly how I feel about his books!! Have you read Iron Gold yet? If so, we might have to message about it. ?
Not yet and I’m DYING!!!! I need to get to a bookstore stat!
@Alexis yes please! I am DYING to talk about it with someone!!!
@Whitney I remember feeling that after each of the other books. I got Red Rising from the library not knowing how much I would love it. Read it in 24 hours and immediately went to the store and bought the series to loan out to friends so we could discuss.
Alexis De Weese if I hadn’t bought it on my kindle, I’d mail it you, just to have someone to talk to about it ?
I loved it. And now I’m listening to the Red Rising series again, because I just wasn’t ready to leave the world. I absolutely love the narrator for that series, I’ve listened to it a few times.
@Whitney If only! I’ll have to pick it up and return to this thread. LOVE that world and all the layers he writes in.
Fun thing to tide you over while you wait for a book buddy, one of my favorite bands wrote a song based on the series. (This is actually how I found out about the series and is the weirdest way I’ve gotten a book recommendation.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s463N26A1_4
@Alexis I loved their voices and I’m already looking up more of their music. That song is….wow. So, so good. It genuinely made me teary eyed. Thank you so much for sharing that with me!!
And yes, please come back to this thread. I’ll search you out later this month and check in to see if you’ve read it haha
Will do!
And Penny & Sparrow are amazing with lots of great literary ties sprinkled throughout their songs. Fantastic and funny live as well.
Alexis, if you had to pick an album to start with what would you recommend?
Tenboom is the first, so start there. Then Struggle Pretty, Let A Lover Drown You, and lastly Wendigo

Tolle, Eckhart Those were the two that stood out to me of the 14 that I read. The rest were 3 stars

Notorious RBG
Britt-Marie Was Here, Lincoln in the Bardo a close second. Hard to choose, really.
