I have a rule of not spending more than 500 rupees/8 dollars on a book. Mostly I buy new books within 300/1-3 dollars but occasionally I might go over my budget. Otherwise I would buy used books or ebooks. There is a reason I was able to afford collecting more than 1k books.
Excluding text books the most I spent was $50 for the Saga Books (graphic novel) or I’ve spend $40 for a hardcover (that’s the price of hardcovers in Australia) it was at a signing and I wanted the hardcover signed
@Dennis, yes, July 1 is our birthday and we are officially 150 years old. There are many celebrations all year long and they have made some really nice coins to commemorate the event
Tried to sell some back got 20$ for what I know cost me 150$. Textbook are needed and some can be well written but come on do we need new editions every year.
Depends on the book. I’ve spend AU$500.00 on a rare book before and AU$990.00 on a set of antique books. Ordinary books I usually spend anything up to AU$25.00.
I have spent as little as 25 cents on a used book at a garage sale and as much at $25 on a new book. I have yet to find a book that I wanted to spend more then that on it.
I was in a medical major in college. Those texts are expensive! I also participated in a bid for a 1930’s edition of Mein Kampf, but had to drop out after the bid rose above $300, so I didn’t actually spend it.
I think the most I’ve spent was $27 on one book. My husband almost died when I finished it a few hours later. ? I try to NOT spend as much because I go through them so quickly.
£39 on the Harry Potter Page to Screen book. Hubby spent around £250 for a set of the original UK adult hardbacks for me for our wedding anniversary. I only ever spend big for special edition books. My normal reading books are eBooks from Kindle/Kobo
I think the most I’ve spent was…just shy of £40 all in, if I remember correctly. It came from a shop in Boston, MA, I think, and was signed. I’m in the UK, all seven you think about it, it wasn’t all that huge a spend.
There’s no tell what I would spend one a book. Depends on the book and the day. I bought a Pride and Prejudice book from Folio for 80 dollars. I love it.
Sadly no, I daren’t start another collection as I’m in the middle of picking up the Barnes and Noble leatherbounds ? That is certainly one beautiful book, though. It’s going on my wishlist for the future!
I sometimes buy spiritualist books they always seem to be to thin and to much about 9.99 plus have to be really interesting to pay that resently payed 5.99 on my kindle for book by author who wrote im travelling alone it was preordered.haven’t read it yet hope its as good
I paid $120.00 for The Lyrics all of the Bob Dylan songs up to 2014. I paid $99.00 for a 3 volume set of Vincent Van Gogh ‘s letter. Both of them are priceless to me!
Free.
I have spent 90 plus dollars on a single book, it is a birders field guide. In my defense I had two gift cards.

It would have to be a darned good book (cover art, author, and story) if it cost over $30 for me to purchase it.
