What funny books do you recommend? I’m looking for something light and fun after the serious books I’ve read recently.

Might want to try anything written by Zadie Smith. She is an English writer who is often lauded by critics as being a humorist. Her novel White Teeth might be a good place to start. Her genre is modern cultural. My favorite of late is, Thomas Pychon, he is American, I believe, and wrote Inherent Vice which was recently made into a movie. The movie is too complicated to be entertaining, however the book is great, fast paced writing and great characters, although it might lean more toward a male audience than Zadie. And there is an old classic, Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Toole, although I notice that many of the younger readers on facebook don’t like this work, however others swear it is one of the funnest novels ever written, and the back story is almost as entertaining as the book itself, and one last favorite is Hunter S. Thompson, he wrote a lot of political satire books in the 60’s and 70’s which are very entertaining and witty. Might start with Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas, its Gonzo journalism at its best. Although my favorite was Fear and Loathing on the Campaign trail. If you read it, I’ll let you be the judge as to whether he really ran into Richard Nixon in the washroom of an airport and conducted an interview.
I write fantasy / rom com. You might enjoy my novel Unintended.
@Justine Awesome
Tepper Isn’t Going Out
Christopher Moore. <3
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn never fails to make me laugh out loud.
If you like *some* horror mixed in, Grady Hendrix is a master at weaving in comedy and horror
@Kensley How much horror are we talking? I’m a bit of a wuss. Lol ?
@Jessica nothing too deep! one book is Horrorstor, and it’s about a haunted IKEA-like business, where the building of the store was built over land where an old prison used to be and the inmates haunt the store, but it’s a good one and definitely has humor in it! another is My Best Friend’s Exorcism, which is heavily based in the 80s from the main character’s recount of her teen years, and there’s humor in it, but it’s not too dark. definitely good if you enjoy 80s cult classics, 80s horror, and some good teen humor 🙂
@Kensley Ahh ok. I can probably handle that. Thanks!!
@Jessica anytime! he’s one of my favorite authors and has great humor! he also wrote a comic adaptation for Little Women and it is a riot, making me appreciate the actual classic a whole lot more!
Grace Gabbiano Mysteries, by me.

Sue Townsend is a marvel.
The Shopoholic series by Sophie Kinsella are hilarious. They’re a light read, but the writing is amazing. I’d recommend any book by her.
Try Rocket Fuel Pee by… me. Disclaimer: I wrote it and this is pure self-promotion, but I’m just starting out on my journey as an “author”. Readers have enjoyed it so far.
