The Wizards first rule is an epic book. Almost a must read for fantasy readers. Book 2 is also really really good. But then it starts to sag. It gets another chance at glory on book 8 but beyond that… you need to be invested and in love with the characters to enjoy it. I liked confessor. For the longest time my husband and I would quote the Wizards first rule all the time. (Each book for the first few had a wizards rule. Rule number one is perfect and utterly true)
Read the first book and don’t bother with the rest. Has decent world and magic system – for one book, those almost make up for the ridiculously perfect protagonists and nearly comically overdone villains. Then it devolves into pages and pages of 1) the author preaching his political views and telling you what you should think and believe; and 2) rape or attempted such. The preaching is more annoying than his apparent obsession with rape, honestly. That’s pretty much it.
I love Terry Goodkind dispite public persona. He writes books I like. I don’t want to be his friend. I don’t need to be. I don’t really care how professional he is. He needs a better publicist and probably should write more.
I’ve read all the books of the Sword of Truth and i find him fantasic!!! the way he writes and the way we connect with Richard and Kalhan!!! wow! i’m starting the Nicci Chronicles soon!!!
First couple were good, got old real fast.
After his recent comments about the cover artist, nope. Never reading him again.
What is the book cover incident all about. I know nothing about it

I really enjoyed them I’ve read them a couple of times.
Wizard’s First Rule I loved! I lost track of the series about book six or seven, but I would recommend.
Unpopular opinion: I couldn’t get past page 100 of Wizard’s First Rule because I thought it read like bad d&d…
You should try again! Maybe get the audiobook. Whatever you do don’t watch the TV show. It’s nothing like the story in the book.
