The Belgariad. David Eddings. Totally fantastic escapism. Likeable characters. Wondrous plot. And just so readable…I must have read these books 30 to 40 times. Since I was 13 to now. I was 13 in 1985. I’ll let you do the maths lol ??
Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, and the Miraculous Adventures of Edward Tulane. Something about these books always sets me at ease when I need to change my perspective. They may be children’s stories, but they’re also very grown-up.
Try Justin Cronin’s “The Passage” trilogy. Amazing spin on the vampire and zombie apocalypse genre, which spans centuries. It’s man-made, so not supernatural and the characters and situations are deep and engrossing.
*shameless plug* I have the first of my fantasy trilogy out. It’s called The Thornless Rose: Fire Blush. My main character is named Viviana, a lord’s daughter from the Kingdom of Dragoonus. She has some amazing abilities but she is scared she will kill someone she loves if she doesn’t get herself under control. Check it out at https://www.amazon.com/Thornless-Rose-Fire…/dp/B01LYJ1MQ3
Just finished Paris by the Book by Liam Callahan. Story a little uneven, but overall excellent book. Mom, dad, 2 daughters. Mom (booklover) + Dad (writer) dream of going to Paris. 1 day dad disappears. Mom moves family to Paris. Maybe she can find him. Great descriptions of life in Paris..owning a bookstore. How to be a single parent; in foreign city. She often thinks she sees him. Does she? Many sections drew me in deeply, page turning. Took me to Paris & I side the bookshop.

I love how she describes what they see, and you feel like you’re there.
