Thoughts about books by Dean Koontz
Love some, not all..prefer his earlier works
I haven’t read a klunker by Koontz!
I like some of his but not all
Wannabe Stephen King but comes up short.
I just don’t understand the hype about Stephen King. I’ve read some of his older and newer books, because i’m trying to see what everyone loves about them. Such a miss for me. ?
And he is definitely my favorite author. These authors are lucky we are all different! 🙂
Absolutely, I could not agree more! 🙂
Anne Rice and Chuck Palahniuk are my 2nd and 3rd favorites. Have you read their work?
No, I have not.
I used to read his books, then realized I really didn’t like his writing style. The same happened with Robin Cook. I don’t like his writing perspective and probably would not like him in person.
Whispers was great! And one door away from heaven. But I agree, prefer his older books
He’s my favorite. My ALLLLLLL time favorite book of his is Intensity
Enjoyed those books of his I’ve read so far.
Loved his early books
I liked the odd Thomas books. Didn’t like Ashley Bell
He is one of my favorite authors. I have a whole bookcase filled with just his books.
Loved all his books but this new series isn’t doing it for me. Very disappointing.
I just downloaded Intensity, because it has so many recommendations from the reading groups I belong to. I’m anxious to read it, but I have 2 others I have to read first.
It’s my fav of his
It’s the most tense book I ever read! But I’d read it again…
While I am a big fan, I find his books have 3 things always: Southern California setting A glock of some sort And a golden retriever His writing is very predictable but I still like it.
The thing about Dean Koontz is when he’s good he’s very very good and when he is bad he is rotten. I found listening to his books on audio is much more enjoyable. He does at times have a bad habit of using 15 words when he could have used one. Watchers and boys life were two of my favorites.
Watchers was his best work IMO. I’m reading Fear Nothing right now.
Intensity was my first read of his, and it’s one of my all time fav reads
Older books are better.
Hit or miss
Excellent author! Loved Sole Survivor. I’m actually rereading it right now.
Some I’ve really enjoyed. Some were too gritty for me.
Night…I liked best
Some great reading. Translation to movies was pretty iffy though…
Nightmare inducing. Not for me but I know some love that horror genre.
He’s a brilliant writer with beautiful writing and great premises, he’s one of my favourites…but, I find many of his endings a bit weak. Loved Watchers the most though!!!! ❤️?
some are good, one of his books is awesome, called “Intensity”. couldnt put it down
It was called..”The City”. One I liked best..years ago read all Odd Thomas series..at first really good ..then I tired of it..good reads
sometimes if you read certain series or the same author, you get tired of that author and have to try someone new..
Enjoyed some of his earlier books… Fear Nothing & Sieze the Night were my favorites. Some were a little slow to get into and a few of his more recent I quit trying.
I love the Christopher Snow books Liked Odd Thomas, but it got repetitive Liking the Jane Hawk series
I felt the same about Odd Thomas… liked the first couple but had to stop after that.. I have not read any of the Jane Hawk series. I will have to look into those. Thanks
Read one once that my college roommate told me was soooo scary. Didn’t shiver once. Found it boring and predictable. (I don’t remember the title, but it was about a whole town that vanishes much in the spirit of the Mary Celeste and the Lost Colony of Roanoke, both stories of which I find more intriguing than Mr. Koontz’s hackneyed writing.
I enjoyed his earlier books but not so much his later writings.
One of my favourites.
I haven’t read anything by him in years, but I did enjoy his books.
The Odd Thomas series will always be one of my favorites! And don’t even get me started on The Good Guy, Life Expectancy or Watchers. Just great, great reads.
Intensity is my all time favorite horror novel
Interesting and entertaining reading for the most part. A Good Author ?
loved the Odd Thomas series but other than that read his older stuff so much better
Love his books!
Tick Tock was my first. I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t the story that unfolded. Didn’t read another for years. Re-read Tick Tock with a different mindset and really enjoyed it. I still think about the idea in The Door To December. After a couple more it seemed to me that his writing has different personalities. If that makes sense. The Darkest Evening Of The Year has a different feel than the first few, almost sweet. Then The Odd Thomas stories had a different vibe for me. I enjoy the mood (right word?) shifts.
@Jane I had a hard time getting into that one. I tried to read it again and finally got thru it.
Love the Thomas books
Odd Thomas rocks, the SciFy movie, did not.
I liked most of his books that I read.
I love his style of writing. He is beautifully descriptive.
Read him in high school.
I only read one so far, recently, Twilight Eyes, and loved it.
I’ve read some good ones. Intensity was the best.
I like alot of his stuff. My favorite is the odd Thomas series
Love his stuff. The Frankenstein books are awesome.
Love the Odd Thomas books, even named one of my cats Thomas.
I LOVE his earlier works! His newer books (in my opinion) are not as good. I’m re-reading WATCHERS for about the 5th time right now!
Some are great. Some are meh. Some aren’t worth the time.
I loved LOVEd the House of Odd graphic novel, Oddkins, and L ightning.
I liked Odd Thomas and his early work like Lightening and Strangers.
The Odd Thomas Series is very good! His books are different but good!!!
I like him.
Darkest evening of the year is really good
used to LOVE him, used to be in my top 5 authors. But in the last 7 or so years…blah. I enjoyed the first 3 Odd Thomas books and the Frankenstein series, but nothing else that is recent
I like him
Creepy, but clever.
Love his books
Good. Fast paced and often a bit scary.
The Odd Thomas series is scary and good
Enjoyed his early ones, pretty unique at the time
Odd Thomas! Amazingly great character
Whispers made my skin crawl ?
I enjoy Koontz. Odd Thomas was my favorite series. Whispers was the scariest of his books.
I tried to read something of his 20+ years ago it is the only book I have never finished I still have it
Living legend! For some odd reason, love TickTock to bits. Odd Thomas series is a must read. Last work read was his Frankenstein: Prodigal Son, it was a real edge of the seat thriller.
Some are great. Dragon Tears, Intensity, Odd Thomas…later books haven’t seemed as good, so I haven’t read him in awhile.
Intensity by Dean Koontz is a great book
Too scary for me.
I haven’t read any but I’m waiting for a couple o come on the mail soon in the next week or so.
Love them, but get nightmares every night till I read
the jane hawk books are excellent

He is ok. Would not get excited when a new book came out
I haven’t read Kootnz book long time but The Bad Place & Odd Thomas for me are memorable
I’ m reading the Jane Hawk series right now.
His Life expectancy is my favorite…
The Odd Thomas series was wonderful. His other stuff I could take or leave.
I like his earlier books. I loved Watchers also.
