Both. I have read Dean’s books for 30 years, I’m newer to Stephen King as I always thought from movies that he couldn’t end his stories. Turns out the movies had just wrecked his books! What a shocker!
I completely agree, a lot of the movies based on Kings books aren’t that great. There are a few good ones though (The Shining and Misery come to mind), and the alternative ending for The Mist was pretty awesome.
@Jessica The Shining was actually one that I thought had a really weak ending and when I read the book I was surprised at how much better it was. That’s the one that got me reading the rest of his books
I’ve never read Dean Koontz, but I tried Stephen King. His books bored me to death, I’ve never made it through a single one. So…based on that alone, probably Koontz.
That’s hard for me. King’s horror usually grabs me right away whereas Koontz’s sneaks up on me. I tend to like Koontz more although I have some King favorites. There’s a wishy-washy answer for ya ??
It’s a question of taste; both King and Koontz are excellent authors. They each have their style and own imaginations; it does neither justice nor is it sensible to compare them. I suggest you read a few books from each to decide which author you prefer but bear on mind that they have both been writing for decades and have a wide range of themes, moods and styles.
Stephen King – but I like Koontz too.
King.
I wasn’t a big fan of Koontz’s writing style. It just didn’t work for me.
I’m totally backwards! Kings writing style doesnt work for me
I have more King books but From the orner of his Eye is one of my all time favorites.
Weirdly enough, I like Koontz more but have more King books
Dean Koontz for me. His 8 find more believable. Like they might just actually happen.
Exactly!!
King .but Koontz is cool too
Both…

Yes! Books are usually better than movies, but man the King movies are just awful!

King
I grew up reading him
Koontz is good too tho
I have more books from Koontz than King ?
I use to read both and now I concentrate on Stephen King…
I enjoy both. Stephen King endings always disappoint me but I get over that. I always feel I need to know “what next”??
I like both.
King. Hands down
Stephen king
I have read only 1 book by King, but Koontz is my guy❤️
His Phantoms put him in my top 5 writers?
I’ve read equal numbers of both. Koontz is the better storyteller. King is the better writer. But they’re both at the top of the horror genre.
King
Stephen King ?

His short stories are way better than his novels. His novels bore me.
@Miranda I enjoy Stephen King but he does seem to lose track and I hate his endings
Dean Koontz!!
Stephen @King
Stephen King is the best!!
That’s hard for me. King’s horror usually grabs me right away whereas Koontz’s sneaks up on me. I tend to like Koontz more although I have some King favorites. There’s a wishy-washy answer for ya ??
I feel the same way!
Both of them have made books my friends, so i can’t choose, they are my go to authors when nothing sparks my interest
Dean Koontz for me
Always King
Stephen king definitely
Dean Koontz
Dean koontz
I have started watching the tv series of Mr Mercedes and I remember why I loved my Stephen King books despite the crappy endings. ??
Stephen ?
Both?
Dean Koontz because Stephen King needs a better editor. He’s so dang longwinded…lol
Stephen King although I love Koontz as well
my two all time favorite horror stories are “Pet Semetary” and “The Shining”. Strangely enough I prefer Koontz, because his books are faster passed.
Is that even a question?
(Oh, my favorite book is “Misery”.)
? The King
No doubt Steven king ?
Stephen King.
Stephen King of
Koontz
Dean Koontz
they tell stories very differently, ao I like them both for their abilities. Mr. King was/is my first <3

Joe Hill
Stephen King

Stephen King! Great story teller !
Dean Koontz freaks me out. I can’t read him, if I want to sleep at night.
King is king
