I prefer his independent books, I loved Guilty Wives and The Black Book, Sail, Honeymoon, The Murder House…the early Women’s Murder Club books (maybe 1-7 or so) were great, but have gotten stale.
I only read the first 2 in the series a very long time ago, with so many favorite authors I have a hard time reading and keeping up with series. I do enjoy his Detective Michael Bennett books as well!
Well, I’m not the one to ask for the mystery/thriller genre other than JP – I just thoroughly enjoy good fiction, Jodi Picoult novels are some of my absolute favorites for thought provoking and well researched stories, give her a try too – maybe start with House Rules or Small Great Things. I’m currently reading Leaving Time by her and have quickly gotten sucked into the story!
@Mansoor you are welcome! (Jonathan Kellerman is a similar writer when you are finished reading Patterson… though you’ll never be; he has books coming out continuously!) Lol
I’m not sure if this is what you mean, but Sam’s Letters to Jennifer is the only James Patterson book I have ever liked. I’m a big mystery fan, but his aren’t up to par in my book. This one was a romance and I loved it!!
I do, that’s why I kept trying. One of my friends told me give it up after trying several. Good advice. I hope you enjoy him. Try Sam’s Letters to Jennifer, though. It was good.
@Mansoor I have so many: Nevada Barr, Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell, Deborah Crombie, Aaron Elkins, Janet Evanovich, Dick Francis, Elizabeth George, Sue Grafton, Steve Hamilton, John Hart, Craig Johnson, Faye Kellerman, Laurie R. King, Stieg Larson, Margaret Maron, Sara Paretsky, Elizabeth Peters, Kwei Quartey, Kathy Reichs, Peter Robinson, David Rosenfelt, Alexander McCall Smith. Julia Spencer-Fleming. Haha–I got my alphabetical list out and picked my favorites. Always discovering new ones!!

@Amy please tell me more writers who writes similar kinda novels.. David Baldacci for one I have read and is equivalent to James Patterson

I’m not sure if this is what you mean, but Sam’s Letters to Jennifer is the only James Patterson book I have ever liked. I’m a big mystery fan, but his aren’t up to par in my book. This one was a romance and I loved it!!
