I used to read his book a lot. Alex Cross series, The Murder Club series, Michael Bennett, Private and NYPD, which I did not like. His early books in the Alex Cross series were brilliant but have now lost their appeal.
I used to enjoy the books that he wrote in the 70s & 80s. That was before he became a brand. A lot of people don’t know that JP won an Edgar award for his debut novel.
I used to – i loved his early Alex Cross series but I haven’t read any by him for some years. I became bored with his ‘collaborations’, most of which were pretty poor
He doesn’t write them himself now. He has a battery of writers writing them. You can tell from the cover. It will usually say James Patterson (in a large font) and —— (or) with ——- in a smaller font. He’s made $95 million this year alone so it must work for him.
I used to like them but the newer ones seem to be full of advertising for designer clothes/shoes/cars/guns. Every single character is described head to foot. YAWN Can’t be bothered any more.
I read a few of his books, a year ago. He writes in a very filmy way. It is like you are watching a movie. All those dramatical dialogues by a murderer. And almost same things in all his PRIVATE novels.
Here are the six books that I intend to read again. Black Market, Virgin, Season Of the Machete, The Thomas Berry man Number, The Midnight Club & The Jericho Commandment
I liked his earlier books.
i have read most of his books and i think hes an exceptional author
Me x
Yes all the Alex cross books
Read nearly all his books and the Alex Cross series is excellent.?

I alway’s have a J P novel when travelling, loved his early novels too. I think there is too much ‘collaboration’ now ‘ .
Is ‘collaboration’ the correct word?
Yes he’s a brilliant writer,Alex Cross series wonderful
He doesn’t write them, so why should I read them?

Indeed. Shame he sold out!
Ive read quite a few of his books and really enjoyed every chapter that was a long time ago now x
I read him years ago but found that he was repeating stuff over and over so I haven’t read him in years
I enjoy a JP book 🙂
I need to read his older books again
I enjoyed a few of the early ones (when he wrote them himself) but stopped once they became bland and were clearly the products of a factory system
I read james patterson books all the time.i enjoy reading them.
I used to – i loved his early Alex Cross series but I haven’t read any by him for some years. I became bored with his ‘collaborations’, most of which were pretty poor
The Alex Cross books are the only ones that he writes by himself
does he still write those himself?

In one case he had to change the Font thing. Private India has ASHWIN SANGHI’S name in big fonts and James’s in smaller.
Read a couple of the new bookshots and liked them so I have started the women’s murder club series. Very good so far x

I loved his earlier stuff, now I keep going with the women’s murder club but none of the others now
I’ve read most of them. The only one I’ve dumped is the very 1st one he wrote. Just couldn’t get into it.
Are you talking about the Thomas Berryman Number? He won an Edgar award for this book. The award was for best debut novel
@Jason Yes. I might try it again some day.
Here are the six books that I intend to read again. Black Market, Virgin, Season Of the Machete, The Thomas Berry man Number, The Midnight Club & The Jericho Commandment
I used to read his alex cross stuff, but kinda “got board” of it
Yes I’m working my way thru his books at the mo
No.
Enjoy his Alex Cross novels.
Yes have read them all..
Yes but not anymore. I think you can overdose on an author. I was starting to find them repetitive.
I have read loads over the years but not recently since discovering so many new authors from online book clubs.
One lying on my pedestal cupboard right now.
