The audio on CD, of The Glass Castle is superb! I haven’t even looked at the cover to see if it’s the author reading, or another. But, her cadence, her way of implying how ridiculous the parents are? … Phenomenal.
Born a Crime, Daring to Drive : a Saudi Woman’s Awakening, the Unwomanly Face of War, both of Langston Hughes’ memoirs The Big Sea and I Wonder as I Wander, The Sun Does Shine by Anthony Ray Hinton, and Just Mercy by Bryan Stephenson.
The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson Brain on Fire by Susannah Cahalan Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver Traveling with Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd
Yes Please, by Amy Poehler, Anything by David Sedaris, Youre on an airplane by Parker Posey. I love memoirs in general, but comedians are great for audiobook memoirs because they typically read them themselves so you know you’re going to get a good narrator.
The Sound of Gravel. Just read it for book club, didn’t think I’d like it, but the author really overcame an unbelievable childhood. Much better than Educated.
