There are 2 very different narrators for this series. While I love Nick Podehl, it might just be because I listened to him first. The other narrator has an amazing voice, really deep and dreamy. But I can’t listen to his narration because now Nick is the voice of Kvothe in my mind
It’s not for everyone. I listen in the car. Makes it possible for me to get more books in. I also listen to books that I would not otherwise spend time reading.
@Mary yea i get why to use them. Just not my cup of tea. I am always running around busy but I just cant get into them. I prefer the book in hand. And it makes sense. You use it well.
James Marsters does a bunch of Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. He does awesome! I’m new to audio books but he will yell and cry and switch up voices.
I have a different choice I like actors as narrators for audiobook like Benedict Cumberbatch for Sherlock Holmes and Richard Armitage for Their Lost Daughters
I listed to Richard Armitage narrating The Tattooist of Auschwitz (and the reason I got the book in the first place). I thought it was just ok, I didn’t think he did a brilliant job.
Bronson Pinchot, Will Patton, Luke Daniels, Richard Armitage are all great. I have downloaded books I never thought of reading before simply because they are the narrators.
@Christina I love the Abhorsen trilogy. I’ve read them so many times over. I couldn’t say how the audio is, but he’s a good narrator from my experience. He’s got that lovely posh British accent.
Davina Porter is amazing. So good at accents too. I’ve been listening to the Outlander books she narrated and they’re excellent. She also did The Mists of Avalon which I’m partway through (it’s quite heavy going at times so I’m taking a break from it).
I’m currently listening to The Witching Hour, narrated by Kate Reading (very appropriate name!) She’s very good too, but there have been certain words that also sound robotic which has been a little jarring for me. I wonder if it’s her accent as I also listened to Discovery of Witches and the narrator of that book had a similar accent and I had the same issue with that as well. Both excellent performances though and it was only a little issue for me ☺️
Roy Dotrice reading the Game of Thrones series is the best! I don’t know how he does it but my goodness I can’t stop listening, he really makes the books come to life!
The name of the wind audiobook

I like Will Payton (I’ve only heard him do Stephen King books, but he’s great). David Colacci does a great job with the Guido Brunetti series.
David Thorpe is fab as is Amanda Ronconi. I thoroughly enjoyed Patricia Rodriguez reading and Peter Kenny.
Kathleen Early is really good. She does Karin Slaughter books. Alice Clayton’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
Therese Plummer is great
Emma Thompson The Turn of the Screw
Good: Davina Porter
Bad: Lucy Rivers
Awesome: Kate Mulgrew
@Brad i have NOS4A2 and she is perfect.
Stephen Fry is an awesome narrator, especially for Harry Potter!
I dont like audio books. I tried 4 of them. Just can’t do it.

Only books where nothing is lost if I miss it work for me. I’ve missed exits because I was too wrapped up in the stort
Jim Dale is excellent. Did all Harry Potter and The Night Circus, and I’m sure much more
@Kristina oh, I didn’t know he did The Night Circus. So exciting!
Just downloaded it, cannot wait to listen…
I loved The night circus!
Scott Brick is my favorite narrator.
I’ve just listened to all of the Robert Galbraith books – the narrator was fantastic
I listened to the first two and thought the narrator was great.
Anything by Jim Dale .
Matt Godfrey is fantastic!
James Marsters does a bunch of Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. He does awesome! I’m new to audio books but he will yell and cry and switch up voices.
Jim Dale is the best. Brad Pitt was good. So was Peter Coyote, Ruby Dee, and Frank McCourt.
Which books did Brad Pitt narrate?
@Abrar All the Pretty Horses and maybe the next two in the trilogy.
Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are my two favorites. Scott brick is alright too. Those are the only names I can think of though.
Keith Richards story
I had an audio book read by pierce brosnan once (well it was my nannas) he’s quite good. Couldn’t tell you what book it was now though
Will Patton is good
@Tegan Will Patton is excellent.
I liked the narrators for the Robert Galbraith books, the girl with the dragon tattoo series, and the outlander series.
Jim Broadbent.
Todd Waites is AWESOME

I listed to Richard Armitage narrating The Tattooist of Auschwitz (and the reason I got the book in the first place). I thought it was just ok, I didn’t think he did a brilliant job.
Tom Hiddleston is an amazing narrator. He narrated high rise by J.G Ballard. Absolutely amazing.
@Amber I want to read this just because I love him!
@Jess I have a Loki “Tom Hiddleston” tattoo on my arm. He is by far my favorite actor.
omg! I love Loki! ?
Bronson Pinchot, Will Patton, Luke Daniels, Richard Armitage are all great. I have downloaded books I never thought of reading before simply because they are the narrators.
Tim Curry is an excellent narrator. He performed The Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix. Some of may favorite audiobooks ever
Tim Curry is so good. I listened to his version of The Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Really…. I didn’t know this. I’ve been putting off reading that series for years. Maybe u should give them a listen ?
@Christina I love the Abhorsen trilogy. I’ve read them so many times over. I couldn’t say how the audio is, but he’s a good narrator from my experience. He’s got that lovely posh British accent.
Elizabeth Evans, Jennifer Ikeda, Scott Brick
My favorite is when the author reads their own book. Neil gaiman, Philip Pullman are good.
Truth
George Guidall from the Alienst
Dick hill and Paul Michael too
The Graveyard Book. Neil Gaiman and cast are amazing!
Could barely listen to Where the Crawdads Sing.
Morgan freeman
Rebecca Soler is amazing. She voices part of the Sadie audiobook on top of the entirety of the Lunar chronicles series! It’s phenomenal and so is she!
Davina Porter is amazing. So good at accents too. I’ve been listening to the Outlander books she narrated and they’re excellent. She also did The Mists of Avalon which I’m partway through (it’s quite heavy going at times so I’m taking a break from it).

Roy Dotrice does great voices in Game of Thrones.
So true!
Len Cariou reading The Narrows by Michael Connelly is just fantastic. Thoroughly enjoying it at the moment.
I love Khristine Hvam, Saskia Maarleveld, Fiona Hardingham, Moira Quirk and Justine Eyre.
He is brilliant ! Author reads the books
David Sedaris is my absolute fav
“A Year In Provence” as read by author Peter Mayle = brillilant. Other versions = dreadful.
A Wrinkle in Time was narrated by a great voice, but the second in the series was read by the author and it was terrible.
The Night Circus is amazing on audio.
Lorelie King is a wonderful narrator
Frank Mueller who narrates Stephen King books and Silence of the Lambs ?
Jim Dale
Roy Dotrice reading the Game of Thrones series is the best! I don’t know how he does it but my goodness I can’t stop listening, he really makes the books come to life!
@Hannah I got the first of these books last week ? I’m listening to The Witching Hour at the moment and then this is next ?
Awesome, you’ll love it! He’s so good with the narration, I usually don’t care for audiobooks but now I’m on the 4th GOT in a row… they’re that good!
Every book written by Mariana Zapata has a great audio book – especially ” From Lukov with love” narrated by Callie Dalton and Teddy Hamilton.
