Series, mostly but I do read and enjoy stand alones. If I am reading a series and desperate to read the next one and the Author then writes a stand-alone, I’m thinking ‘please write the next one quickly’!! I absolutely understand though. That’s just me being selfish ?
I like both… but the nice thing about a series is there is more 🙂 but what I don’t like is that it is often not marked as such so i get home from the library and enter it on goodreads (thankfully) and see it’s no 4 say and grrr then can’t read it because I am not starting in the middle!!!! So then I often don’t end up reading the series cos I have to take it back as by the time I were to get hold of 1, 2 and 3 it would be beyond renewing amount of times. I’d like them to be marked as no 4 etc. if that’s possible 😉
I just discovered yesterday that Chaos by Patricia Cornwell was the 24th in the series. I left the series long ago and IMO it should have been wrapped up before now.
depends how good books are.but i do hate it when theres like 11 or more books that is annoying.esp if i dont know and pick up book 3 and start reading it ?
I like both too ?
Definitely both!
Both for me!
Prefer serials?
Read both but in a series unlike when each book has a conclusion and not a cliffhanger
Ah yes @Sean, I am not keen on cliffhangers in a series, I prefer a conclusion to each one.
I don’t mind .
Both.
I like both but definitely prefer series.
Both
Standalone.
I like both. I just don’t like it when I pick a book up without realising it’s a series as like to read them in order.
Both but series in particular
Both
I prefer series but have to read in order. I have so many books later in the series just waiting for the earlier one.
I prefer reading a series in order. The plot may be individual but there is usually an ongoing back story with the regular characters
So true c
Both but it is annoying when trying to collect a series in order
Both
Standalone.
Both.
Both but I prefer series
Both, but must admit I love a series more
I like both
I’m with you there John – still haven’t read the little Lasser though!! So so busy!! xx
You are in for a treat
@John Tell me when Lasser isn’t a treat – love him!!

Both.
both, I like to mix them up…however I have to read a series in order.
I like a standalone in between series
I like both
I like both. Have to read a series in order and like to read them all one after the other – hate waiting for the next one to come out #impatient
Both, though waiting for Authors to get their act together requires some patience!!! ???
I prefer a series but if I do read a standalone I hope the author eventually writes a sequel
I also like both but once I get started in a series I want to finish that first before reading anything else
I’m same and like to read them in order
likewise 🙂
Both
Prefer standalone by miles. I have a commitment problem I think!
I am fine if there is only a couple of books to catch up on.but if there are quite a few in the series I feel I can’t commit
Both x
Series. Because I go into a state of depression when I finish a good book I’ve been absorbed in..
I like both now, though it used to be stand-alones.
Both for me ???
Don’t mind either, as long as it’s a good story and they’re well written
I like both… but the nice thing about a series is there is more 🙂 but what I don’t like is that it is often not marked as such so i get home from the library and enter it on goodreads (thankfully) and see it’s no 4 say and grrr then can’t read it because I am not starting in the middle!!!! I think you have a valid point about them being numbered Heidi
Both for me, the first series I read was Karin Slaughter ?
Both!
Sometimes I really do feel an author has been pushed to do ‘just one more’ in a series when it really wasn’t a good idea.
I just discovered yesterday that Chaos by Patricia Cornwell was the 24th in the series. I left the series long ago and IMO it should have been wrapped up before now.
Both
Both. Although I do love a good series #jessiekeane
I prefer to read a series. I love to see how the characters develop over time. X edited, stupid phone. Lol
I like both!
Series for me. Also like Trilogies.
My favourite Trilogy this year is The Mechanic Trilogy by @Rob
Without a doubt, Susan.
Thank you @Susan and @David, I appreciate your support.
I really enjoy a series!
Both but I have to read a series in order
Both for me too!
Both
Both.
Both, but especially nice when you find a new author and they have written quite a few,and you enjoyed the one you read and know there are more-fab!
I like a series with occasional stand alone
Bit of both for me….
Both. Absolutely have to read a series in proper order though.
Both! Some characters and settings scream out for a series. Others don’t.
Stand alones. I don’t mind series, but I get bored with the same characters after a while.
I see your point. I have given up on James Patterson and Patricia Cornwell.
It depends how well the series is developed, of course, and whether the author/publisher knows when it’s time to stop 🙂
Don’t let Ted stop yet, Lesley, we are not done with him yet!
No danger of that! The little pest won’t let me! But if ever the quality starts to slip, I will stop 🙂
I love a series
Definitely series!
Love a series especially Ted Darling
Awww thank you, that’s very kind indeed 🙂
Series for me – I love to get to know the characters.
depends how good books are.but i do hate it when theres like 11 or more books that is annoying.esp if i dont know and pick up book 3 and start reading it ?
Try fantastic fiction Web Site to check if a series and order.
Tonight’s book choice is – Two Nights by Kathy Reichs
I loved flowers in the attic and the morganville vampire series. I’m sure there have been others too but love books so don’t mind either 😀
I like both but I lack the willpower to see them through when I see other books come out that I want to read.
Both but I have to read a series in order and get a tad judgy when people don’t ??
Serialized stand-alones… Lol
Series! X
@Michael I like reading and writing both.
