Lisa Tranchetti I know that. It was the writing I felt was lackluster in places. I’m allowed to have an opinion on the quality of the book, without belittling the work the women did.
I don’t belittle people. I was remembering all the scary moments they face. Have a glass of wine and relax. I’m sorry if you are belittled a lot in your life that you attack everyone
Very satisfying. I read “The Great Alone” around the same time so it was a relief to read about smart, competent women after the ninnyhammers in Alone.
I really enjoyed it, but WWII historical fiction is always as fascinating as it is appalling to me. I thought Lilac Girls was even better, so put it on your tbr list too, if you haven’t already read it. ?
Loved this book! One of my favorites of 2018. What courageous women! I loved that one story took place during WW1 and the other during WW2

I finished it recently. I enjoyed it. I don’t know that I quite agree with the amount of hype it’s gotten, but yeah, a good read.
These were real women. Could we have walked in their shoes?

Oh lord. I didn’t belittle a soul. You’re the one getting defensive. Over a book. I’m done. This is ridiculous.
Not I you mention me. I just commented that I wasn’t sure I could be that brave. You say you are a journalist. Toughen up
Loved. Fiction based in fact. Good characters, tough situations, well written
I really enjoyed it, especially the history behind the story.

Great book. Wish I had known ahead of time that it is based on real events. It would have made even more of an impact.
