Thank you. I have long afternoons waiting for my child between when I get off work and when he gets off school before we can make our commute home every day. I’d like to fill my scrapbooks library with good long listens.
Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, The Secret History by Donna Tart, The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. Been awhile since I read these but I think they were all fairly big books and all wonderful.
Yes! The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet is a winner. Especially because is a one in a three book series that keeps the saga alive for even longer.?
I’m certain rereading it would still be a treat! World Without End and The Column of Fire are equally engrossing not to mention the fascinating glimpse into the medieval England days. My best of Ken Follet!
The Dark Hunter Series by Sherrilyn Kenyon is awesome. It’s a romance series with an actual plot. It has like 28 books now. Or for Fiction type stuff Monster Hunter International by Larry Correa. It is amazing. Has 6 core books and 13 in total with the side stories.
Pat Conroy..Beach Music Greg Iles … Red Rising series by Pierce Brown The Crow Girl by Erik Axl After Her by Joyce Maynard We Are Water by Wally Lamb The Stand by Stephen King Lisey’s Story by Stephen King
I had a determination to buy a copy new and read. I reckon fact it’s a new copy means psychologically I wish think it’s more of a waste than a 2nd hand if not read.
@Astell I love your thinking. I’m bad to buy books. Then see more. And buy. Then I get into a certain genre and get those. If I live to be 100. I’ll never be able to finish them all. But my intentions are very good I assure you.
Oh me too. I got rid of 50 a few weeks ago leaving me with 650 but brought some since. Bank I took books to for charity table had a book that came home with me
I’m a retired teacher. My speciality was Russian and world history. If you like history I have many suggestions and not boring ones. I read narrative history. Let me know.
@Joel read them all. Of course. And others by Massie. I’ve read so many on N and A and Peter the Great. The last one called”. The Romanovs”. By SS Montifiore. He’s done great works on Russia. But the last one was “. The National Enquirer does the Romanovs. “. Not my phrase. But sadly I agree. Concentrated on their sex lives and weirdness. I knew that junk. All the ruling families were nuts from intermarriage. Let’s not forget to mention the ever popular Rasputin either. Glad you read some history Joel. ??
But for fiction. I have read all of Daniel Silva’s His main character is a Jewish Mossad assassin who masquerades as an art restorer. Lots of Middle Eastern politics and you can travel all over the world with Gabriel. Allon,, the main character. Been reading him 20 years. Never a bad one.
