I just finished five feet apart. I’m in the mood for a good ugly cry book. What’s the saddest book you have ever read?

I always cry at Nicholas spark books…
Is five feet apart what they just made the movie about?
@Christy yea it’s amazing!!!!! Sooo good!!!! The movie is coming out in March!
@Shyla great I will add this to my list. I always like to read the book first. The movie is never as good as the book, Imo.
@Christy yes! Nicolas sparks books are the saddest!
@Christy yeah!!! That’s what I like to do too!!!
@Christy I’ve actually thrown his books across the room when he kills off a main character.
I don’t know if these were the saddest I’ve read, but two I read recently were pretty sad, but really, really good. They are My Life As A Bench by Jaq Hazell and What Remains True by Janis Thomas. I loved them both.
Just read What Remains True…wonderful book.
@Paige I listened to it on audio. Really good.

Susan Smokler the book is just WOW. I preferred it to the film. It makes me cry every time (the book) and the book is slightly different.
@Sandra thanks. I must read it.
@Susan Must now read it again!
Its been over 20 years since I read it, and so it was well before the movie and I had no knowledge of the events in the book. It hit me like a ton of bricks and I burst out in nearly hysterical sobs!

@Stacy OMG, I had forgotten about that one! I ugly cried hard with that one. Her book, So much more, made me ugly cry as well.
@Cynthia a solid 4 hours of crying. Yes- such an unforgettable book ?
@Shyla, is it very sad? My daughter who is 13 (but quite an old 13) is desperate to read it.
@Kaye it’s amazing! I recommend it! I think it would be ok for a 13 year old I mean I am like a 5 year old when it comes to sad books haha I think it will be alright for her!
Haha, thanks! I’ve always encouraged her to read whatever she chooses, and she’s chosen this. My reservation is that my girly has CF – I don’t feel like I can contradict everything I’ve said about her choosing her reads for herself (obviously with some limits!) but equally don’t want her to be upset/anxious if it’s totally soul destroying!
She came home from school tonight talking about it so I’ve not had chance to read it myself, hence searching it on here for reviews!! ?
@Kaye it’s amazing the movie comes out soon! Very good!!! Sad but still amazing
Me before you and after you. Made me cry.
