@Amanda I read really fast… I don’t want to compare myself by how many books I read … I go like once a week and get about 10 books I just read a lot, not trying to compete I probably read about 10 300 plus pages books a week It’s not bragging Its how sad my life is, my family is far away, so i read
Thank you @Amanda…its all good I’m glad to be able to read.. My kids do too, so when we do get to talk it’s about movies and books… My daughter is in TX and boy in Army so I have nothing to do without them than read, watch Netflix, garden, and take care of the kittehs lol
Yes mood. I like to keep it varied — something light after an intense thriller, historical fiction after a contemporary read, a senior character after a story told by children But I also think the right book finds me at the right time.
I never read anything unless I’m excited about it. Sometimes that means ignoring my tbr list and buying a random book from Target. I never want to let reading feel like a chore!
Lot of ways: • I pick a number and read the book that corresponds with the number • Mood • Look at my shelf until something speaks to me •Have someone else pick one for me (I did that for October on goodreads)
I have a stack. My son knocks it over and I restack it. He knocks it over again. In this way the books get completely shuffled. I then grab whichever one is on top the next time I need a new book to read.
It has worked well for me so far. *Thinking* of continuing it next year. But trying to decide if I want to try for just 52 books next year – but have them *all* be ARCs 😀
Setting this year’s at 108 AND reading as many ARCs as I’ve started doing of late… is a bit overwhelming. I still have 33 books left on the 2018TBR, counting the one I’m currently reading. And just about 96 or so days to read them all in.
Of course, considering that I’ve *already* read 102 books this year, if I can somehow cram in *another* 19 books beyond that – and I’ve already commited to at least 3 – I can hit 156 books on the year. Or 3 per week, one per 56 hrs.
@Jeff that’s awesome. I set up my goodreads account in May and set my goal to 6 for the year (not an avid reader) and have read 10 thus far and I have at least 2 more that I’m going to read plus the one I’ll finish today. My husband suggested I set my goal at 50 for 2019 so I’m going to try but I’m also using the United States reading list. It’s a book based in each state. I’m hoping to read them all but I’ll do the best I can.
@Amanda it worked well for me until my daughter got me in a book battle and i had to read certain criteria books!! Lol. It was a lot of fun. I am doing it again this month. I am going to chose books I have instead of getting from the library.
I pick the book I’m most excited about, or a book that goes well with the season. I tend to read uplifting children’s classics in the spring and summer and gothic romance and mystery and horror, and also fantasy, in the fall and winter months.

How many books do you choose at a time

@Evie though not thought. Sorry.

Plus I have horrible insomnia so…
Reading is so much better than just laying here all like WHY AM I AWAKE?
❤️❤️❤️❤️

I blow the dust off my piles. This serves two purposes.
1) Cleans the books off.
2) Helps me figure which ones have been sitting there longest; they have the most dust on them. I read those.

Just go with whatever feels right.
I usually pick the thickest book or the thinnest book, depending on how much free time I have that week.
Mood
Easy for me, I don’t have a TBR. I just buy as I need.
I have a stack. My son knocks it over and I restack it. He knocks it over again. In this way the books get completely shuffled. I then grab whichever one is on top the next time I need a new book to read.
Random
Magic 8 ball… ?
???
Do the best Authors first I’ve Dilly court Val wood Molly Adams CLTajlor Kate Morton etc etc
Mood
Me too. Mood and book size, depending in what I feel I can bite off given everything else going on.
If I can’t decide, I look for the oldest added book on my Goodreads page, but if I’m in a slump, I’ll pick a book out of my genre.
Pinterest has a lot of great lists that I always look at too!
I was just looking at Pinterest to be honest and I’m thinking of doing one of the challenges they have on their for 2019.
Update: I’ve decided to do the United States Challenge for 2019. It’s a book based in each state in the United States.
@Julia I will ?
This is a great idea.

Tbr-jar
eenie meenie
Eenie, meenie, minee, mo.?
I stand there and stare at my TBR pile until “something” reaches out and pulls me in and says, “read me”!…???
I do a lot of this, too.
put them in a list in https://random.org/ and let it choose
This is a good idea
Alphabetical
I write down the books and put them in a jar and pull one out and read it.
I thought about doing this but I have 1,400ish books on my TBR
@Amanda I do also, so I wrote about 100 down and when i read all of those i will do another 100. ??
@Dede that’s a good idea.

Mood
Honestly, it’s usually always the last book I purchased. The ones on the bottom really stand no chance lol
I’m a mood reader so I’m terrible with making TBR lists!
Me too! I just buy whatever interests me at the moment and hope I’ll be in the mood later too lol
I put them in alphabetical order.
Mood & sometimes the seasons. ?
