Can anyone recommend an audiobook to listen to with the whole family (mom, dad, 9yo girl, 7yo boy) on a long road trip? Thanks!

A Wrinkle in Time was a favorite of mine and my mom’s when I was little
Harry Potter
The hobbit
The rangers apprentice
My husband actually enjoyed these. They’re strictly childrens books though, so there isnt anything that I would hesitate to have children read or listen to. The man character is about 14 or so.

A wrinkle in time, Harry Potter, or Holes are all family favorites for us!!!!!
Keeper of the lost cities series
The Percy Jackson books are good on audible

Steel Trapp: The Challenge
Since you have a 9 and 7 year old, I will recommend family fun series. My kids loved Judy Blume’s Fudge Series. The first one is “Fourth Grade Nothing.” It is about family life from the view of the oldest brother. My kids also loved the Henry Huggins Series and the Ramona Series by Beverly Clearly. They are all good natured and fun loving stories. And everyone will get something from it.
I second these suggestions.. read them when I was very young and loved them ❤️
@Stephanie thank you! We read those last summer on the road.
I am glad you guys heard them. I am about to listen to the Fudge Series for the second time with my last daughter. We also enjoyed the Ralph S. Mouse series. The Magic Treehouse is good too but a bit repetitive. Shiloh is also good but it has some sad parts. We started Little House on the Prairie but we did not finish it yet.
Oh we loved the Narnia series.
The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers! It’s looooooong and so funny and full of puns and (harmless) innuendo and creatures and silly adventures.
Lemony Snicket?
@Ashley we read those at bed time for many many months and loved them!
The percy Jackson series
Harry potter
Alcatraz vs. The evil librarians by Brandon sanderson. I LOVE it.
The Narnia series!
Nevermoor, Magic Misfits
Hunger Games
Anne of green gables
Harry Potter, Narnia, Peter Jackson.
Personally I think The Hunger Games might be a bit too dark for a 9 and 7 year old, especially the last two books.
Watership Down.
Bunnicula
Becoming! Michelle Obama reads it!!
Me and my kiddo are doing the Harry Potter series
The Spiderwick Chronicles
Harry Potter!
The Penderwicks.
Yes, the main family is 4 girls and one dad, but in the first book they meet a boy that lives where they are vacationing. Also it’s a summer story!!
A Wrinkle in Time. Mary Poppins. Chronicles of Narnia. Harry Potter. Artemis Fowl. Anything by Carl Hiaasen.
Maybe a Jim Gaffigan bio book? He’s funny and pretty g-rated.
There’s also a great mystery series I found through my library called Flavia De Luce ( #1 The Sweetness At the Bottom of the Pie)- the main character is a young girl from the 1950s who’s obsessed with chemistry and poison, and solves crimes. They’re funny and engaging, but not so complicated that a young kid wouldn’t like them- I’m 25 and I really enjoyed them
HARRY. POTTER.
At The Back of the North Wind. My entire family, husband included, was held captive the whole book, not once did anyone ask to turn it off! (My kids were 16, 14 and 10 at the time.)
The Hobbit
His dark materials series! Get the version with Phillip Pullman narrating with a full cast ?
The graveyard book (multiple narrator version was really good)
The Neil Gaiman edition is also lovely.
Some of these are a bit out there for a 7 year old ?
David Walliams audiobooks are always a good choice for when we travel (son age 9 and daughter age 6). We have also listened to the wizards of once series, Cressida cowell.
And sometimes the children dip in and out of the Enid Blyton classics like famous 5, or secret 7. (Sometimes magic faraway tree series)
Also the Worst Witch series
Natalie Parker magic wishing chair and the children of cherry tree farm were amongst my favorite enid blyton between 7 and 9 ? and the worst witch is still a great set of stories!
Mine too, I still occasionally read the Mallory towers books, just to relive my youth!! Lol
Harry Potter
We’ve done Harry Potter and the Eragon series!
The Bfg or Matilda ??
The Narnia series! I loved them when I was a kid. My parents would read them to us when we were kids.
Magic tree house.
There’s also an audio book about a dog named Hank. I can’t remember.
Rebecca Morrison YES! Thank you!
Our family is reading Wonder right now and enjoying it 🙂
Skullduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy, it’s a series of young reader fantasy novels with enough snark to keep grown-ups entertained. It feels a bit like Harry Potter.
@Maya I second this, I started reading the series because it was really popular with the students (high school librarian) and it’s actually really engaging ?
Anne of Green Gables!
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. It’s a great book aimed for children that adults can enjoy too!
Ready Player One would probably keep everyone’s interest 🙂
Dark Materials
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
The elephant whisperer
